A man was beaten and robbed after asking for directions in the French Quarter on Saturday (July 29), New Orleans police said.
The 61-year-old victim told police he was on Decatur and St. Peter streets about 10 a.m. when he asked a group of people for directions, according to a preliminary NOPD report. The group led him to a different location and beat the man, stole his property and fled the scene, according to police.

How do you get mugged on a Saturday at 10am in the right by Jackson Square? There has got to be more to this. If victim was looking for prostitution or drugs then the paper is just throwing gas onto fire, if it was just a tourist looking for cafe du monde, I'm sorry you got jacked.

Because you were naive enough to think thugs are going to give you directions rather than taking advantage of you because you're a tourist?

Probably the part where they led him to a different location.

He didn't get mugged at Decatur and St. Peter. He asked someone for directions from there and was led to another location.

Well that's what you get for being in the FQ at 10 am.

Still how naive can a 61 yo man be to follow a group of people in a strange town to a secluded place??? Unless it was a pack of drunk OT 10s looking for a good time.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for such reckless behavior. He should've known not to be in an area like that at that time of day. And didn't even have his personal security detail with him.

Doesn't the article say they led him to another location? But, yes there is something wrong with this story.
A tourist in NOLA asked for directions and they took advantage of him being naive to the area. The problem with the story is the predators that robbed him.

You are right, sorry baw. IDK what got into me. Maybe it was because last time I was in NOLA, I went by Lee circle. Must have rubbed off on me. Excuse my ignorance and apologies to Mitch.

Probably because this kind of stuff is rare where they are from.

Never mind, they posted a picture of a vehicle of interest in this case

We'll get you signed up for a 40 hr white privilege recognition class ASAP so you won't commit these heinous micro/macro aggressions again.

I am interested in the training that CuseTiger had to go through, any chance you can get me a spot?

No, that was more of an overview class. This class is more of a camp...that helps you concentrate....

Probably was a drug deal gone bad or a hooker robbery and he's too embarrassed to say it.
