Yep, and Lewis is a Louisiana legend, and has my utmost respect as an advocate. My point is simply that James is extremely bright and talented. He also loves LSU as much as anyone on Tigerdroppings.

Do you really think we don’t know this is you?

What case was that?

Williams is about 100% Plaintiff Personal Injury or was for the longest time. Like some of them do, he may have later branched out into other areas to seem more legit. But deep down he’s a Orleans Parish car wreck attorney.

Nah, defending Exxon in an asbestos case where the Plaintiff spent his entire career at Exxon and died of Meso on day 2 of the trial, and the jury got to hear it.

And zeroed Unglesby.

The whole BOS is a farce. Buddy Leach (former chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party) somehow has his daughter named to the LSU BOS by JBE. Her name is Mary Leach Werner. She did not go to LSU, but graduated from the Breneau Women’s college in Georgia. Her qualifications seem to be family connections, and Serving on the board of her family’s companies and the Stream family’s companies. Hannah Werner (assuming this is Mary’s daughter) just graduated college and is the marketing coordinator of the Hotel Indigo in BR (see below for news release regarding this developer). She is also the social media director of the Louisiana First Foundation, which appears to be JBE’s wife’s foundation. I found an excerpt where Leach used state funds to develop the Hotel Indigo:

quote:

The Bricks & Mortar Award will go to the Leach family — Claude “Buddy” and Laura Leach and daughter Mary O’Dell Leach Werner, daughter Lucille “Lucy” Anne Leach Davenport and son Claude Alexander Leach — of Lake Charles, and The North American Land Co., of Lake Charles, for the restoration of the historic King Hotel in Baton Rouge, now the Indigo Hotel. The building, which was vacant for many years, is now a chic addition to downtown Baton Rouge. Both federal and state tax credits were used for the restoration.

I believe James Williams represented the Michael Brown family in connection with his death in Ferguson, Missouri.

I know he zeroed out an African American meso plaintiff representing Exxon in Iberville Parish. He also was adverse Tony Clayton in a contract dispute over hundreds of millions in Iberville. SABIC vs. Williams. He’s a talented trial lawyer and very smart.

No way in hell that’s legitimate. Someone got to the jury. There is just no fricking way.

James might be effective but that's not the way attorneys should behave in court. Ranting and raving and feverishly swiping his iPad. The problem is that your typical judge and jury in somewhere like Orleans or EBR Parish falls for that stuff. It's obnoxious and certainly not what is taught in the legally required ethics and professionalism CLEs. But he gets rewarded by our ambulance chaser governor in getting to run LSU.

I’m curious about your take on this. You say James is effective and that his showmanship resonates with Orleans Parish and EBR jurors.
It’s that exactly what you want in an attorney if you are litigating in a forum like that?

What is unethical about being a zealous advocate and “ranting and raving and swiping your iPad.” I get you don’t like his style, but I’m not getting the ethics argument.

Seems pretty clear what he was saying. There’s a line between being a zealous advocate and behaving in a way that reflects negatively. Is it an ethical violation? No, but it certainly isn’t praiseworthy. But the ends justify the means to some people.
