Of course not. Hollywood makes everything over-dramatic so it looks better on screen.

IDK about all that. If you go watch any of the Russia/Ukraine videos out there, they use a frick ton of grenades and they are extremely effective when they get them close.

In slang, a "grenade" is most commonly a derogatory term for a very unattractive person in a group, popularized by the show Jersey Shore, where a friend would have to "fall on the grenade" (flirt with or hook up with them) to help their attractive friend get attention.

As long as they still keep the baseball shaped grenades so soldiers can channel their inner Buck Compton

I'm guessing 99% of all grenades nowadays being used are indoors or dropped from drones. I can see where eliminating the frag aspect makes it more useful/effective, you're not trying to rip through bits of jungle to hit your target.

I suppose I could've been more specific in my wording. What I should've said is the general public's idea of what the capabilities of an M67 grenade are and the Veteran accounts of the capabilities of the M67 grenade are very different. At least according to the folks that actually throw them.

Eh, if I’m inside a building and tossing a grenade into another room, I think I’d want more frag and less boom (provided the interior walls are more solid than standard drywall construction). I would have to be in fairly close proximity as well and it seems like it would increase my chances of long term TBI issues. Plus, I would prefer whatever is in there to be as close to dead as possible before I go in.

If the over pressure radius is sufficient to damage internal organs, I don’t want to be near it. CQB vets with GWOT experience will have a more informed opinion.

There are a lot of breachers out there with serious brain issues. You can only do it so many times before you do serious damage to yourself. Hell, I think you’re only supposed to fire a few Gustav rounds at a time or you’ll do some damage to yourself.

For sure. As you said, the picture that Hollywood paints is not reality. They dont just immediately kill everything within 50 feet of one. But inside of 15-20 feet, the likelihood of one being able to continue the fight as is goes way down depending on where the shrapnel catches them. Inside probably 6-10 feet, you're, more than likely, out of the fight. Inside 2 or 3 feet, you're either dead or missing at least one appendage.

The "drone drop" videos that started coming out of Ukraine highlight this. Even the old "pineapple" fragmentation grenades are pretty effective inside like 10 feet. If you see one of those being dropped from a drone and it lands like 10-15 feet away, most of the time the recipient immediately goes down reaching for their feet/legs or they start hopping for cover because they caught some hot steel in the lower part of their body. They dont die right then, but they are no longer mobile and a non-mobile target for these drone operators are as good as dead. The direct hits with M67 grenades are surprisingly gruesome sometimes.

I don't know crap about hand grenades except that all i've ever heard from vets is that they're not really all that effective and don't make near the boom they are portrayed to make in movies. Maybe this new version will be better?
If by boom you mean a dramatic fiery explosion, no. As far as sound, they make a serious boom you can feel in your stomach.
