From my understanding, I think her lawyer said she thinks he was reaching into the window of his car while guns were drawn.
Why did she draw on a stranded motorist in the first place? Her gun was on him long before he got to his window.
Positive tox results, if they come back that way, make this moot anyway.

this 100%. It's unreal. They find one piece of evidence and use that to support their desired outcome. It's either ignorance or racism. Or both.
I wish the guy was white because then the thread would be full of "the dumbass deserved it" replies. White people don't blindly defend white people like black people defend their own.

In this situation they only defend the guy after he's dead. He clearly had a problem. 12 prior encounters with police of which 4 required physical force. His father admitted in the past his son had a problem with PCP. The story should be "look what happens when you go down the wrong path." Instead it's "we are outraged that a white cop shot a father, student, church choir singer." It's a travesty and joke.

Attorney Scott Wood, who represents Shelby, told the World previously that his client believed that Crutcher was under the influence of PCP, based on things she learned during drug-recognition expert training.
Tulsa World
Can't find the first article I read, but it
said she thought he was jacked up on something from the way his eyes looked. It detailed how he threw up his arms for no reason (before she drew the gun, was acting strange and he wasn't answering her questions or complying with what she asked him to do. If you apply all of that to what's going on from the helicopter video, it matches up.
ETA:
Still not the article I first read, but it tells a little about why she pulled the gun, etc. ...
quote:
The officer's attorney said people who are mentally ill or under the influence can be unpredictable, and the best thing to do is hold them until help arrives.
He said Shelby tried to do that by calling for backup and repeatedly telling Crutcher to get on his knees, but he said Crutcher did not comply.
Shelby says Crutcher repeatedly put his hands toward his pocket, so she feared he could have a gun, which is why she pulled her gun.
"She followed police protocol in this encounter, and I can't emphasize that enough," said Shelby’s attorney, Scott Wood.

Maybe she thought he was going to rip the window out and throw it at her like a heavy sharp edged killer frisbee. PCP is a helluva drug

So she is a drug recognition expert, but not a window up or window down expert.

Wait a damn minute. People get mad when departments protect officers and withhold information and now youre mad when seemingly this department is putting everything out there?

So are you basing the entire verdict on if the window was up or down? Kind of a "did the glove fit or not" situation?

There was a 911 call reporting the car and the driver but she hadn't been dispatched to it. That doesn't have anything to do with the incident after she got there but I just absolutely hate how the race mongerers always say this was some white conspiracy to commit a murder.
I should note that I don't think hardly any of these cops are set on murdereing these people. At all. I think many of them make emotional, irrational, poorly throughout and reactionary decisions in the face of the fear, which is blurred by their understanding of their protections under the law and their powers.
These mistakes should be punishable. I can't call individual cops racist without any personal info, but I can say, with history and data to back it, that PD policies and law enforcement has been discriminatory against blacks since 1776, before their crime binge.
