It's been open for a week in a half. They need more drivers. Atleast they are completely honest and upfront about not being available instead of making you wait an hour

They need to not hire lazy drivers or ones that sleep all day. I'd be logged in right now eating cheetos at my house waiting for someone to hit me up. Not just not being logged in.

how do you look at the drivers in your area without actually booking a ride?

You can't look at the drivers. You request a driver then it pops up. I think you have 5 minutes or so to cancel at that point or you get a 10 dollar charge.

Maybe. I could see someone just hopping in and saying I will give you X amount of cash to take me here.

Not maybe. They will be kicked off of Uber for doing that.

I've hailed a few and first thing they do is confirm I have to app and tell me to get on it.

I would be able to look for a different way to get home, instead of "oh yeah we're on our way!" And I sit there for an hour.

but if he says it will take an hour its ok according to your previous post...you just don't like being lied to

i thought you were able to choose your own driver based on his rating. as long as he's near you at least.

I have seen some cars get waved down because they see that blue glowing U in the windshield.

Then that was not an Über ride. They would have had to pay in cash

I've never been able to do that. You request what service you want and they send you the closest available driver

that's the beauty of the system. The drivers can do whatever they feel is the best for them. If they don't log in, they don't make money.

Once it's a full capacity though, there will be plenty of drivers throughout the day.

But right now, there's limited drivers and some of those have regular 8-5 jobs to go to, no one is available to pick you up. But be patient it's been 11 fricking days

Actually yes if I have an hour to wait.

If I don't, I say no.

Problem is, they NEVER say that'll be an hour and a half. They say much shorter time estimates so you agree to the ride. Most people would say "No thanks" if they gave accurate estimates.

Well you can, as in you get the driver see his rating and can cancel if you don't like his rating/car. You can't just scroll through the drivers and pick one though.

it will take a few months for them to get up to capacity. But once kids realize they can drive dad's car and make $20k/year by driving part time there will be a lot of drivers.

Uber is awesome

This just screams tons of liability issues. If you get into a wreck, does Uber assume liability? This just seems like a disaster.

The concept is good but as a parent, I'd be so pissed if my kid decided to drive. I hope they have a mandatory age limit of 21 plus.

Didn't say that. Just saying that this happens all the time customer will leave and not call and cancel. I just know that not everyone is being 100% honest in their stories. If you read back, I said we get all the info sent to our terminals. This includes the time the customer called in. We get more no shows within the 20 min time frame than any.

Yeah, guy that drove me Saturday night said they have roughly only 25-40 right now in BR, but they expect well into the 200's+ by the time fall comes. Hope he is right, cause the 4 times I have used it so far it's been great.

They wouldn't but the passenger wouldn't be covered by Uber's insurance. They also get credit for how many rides they give and it helps when they get good ratings.

There are lots of smart people that have thought this out for years. I don't know all of it, but I do know I haven't heard of a single instance of Uber drivers doing this and my friends and I take use the service multiple times a week for 6+ months.
