Not uber's problem, these are probably laws and regulations cab unions supported

And?

They provide a great product. The end.

What the agreement is between their contracted drivers and the company is between them and them alone.

How many Uber rides have you taken? I would guess that at least half the Uber drivers I've used here in Chicago are former full-time cab drivers who quit and are now making more money and working on their own hours. If there wasn't a sufficient monetary reward involved for the driver, then this company would have already collapsed.

Dick, The point is that you shouldnt have to call out a drive on his BS!!!! They just should be reliable and not try to rip the customer off...

Do you understand how awful and terrible the cc procedures you are describing are? Versus not even needing your card on you with uber.

My advice is get out now.

Why can't he just do his job and provide the service and let me pay how I want without me asking him to call the office?

What about the insurance thing the OP mentioned? Is it true that if an Uber driver gets in a wreck that is his fault his insurance won't cover it?

What if the passenger is injured in an accident that was the fault of his driver? What recourse does the passenger have?

The OP is full of easily refutable half-truths that can be knocked down easily, as many commenters have. But the point about the insurance is one that nobody has touched.

Which is why we called for a van.

And it was over $30 to go from the Aster area to Freds. We did it multiple times a weekend. Could be a multiple hour wait

State law ONLY ALLOWS 4 PPL. VAN OR NO VAN.

Aster st. Area about $8.00.

If you were telling the truth about the CC machines and your drivers then you would have a majority of your receipts in CC transactions.

The drivers and owners all prefer cash.

And we all know why.

Seriously all this CC crap i keep hearing pisses me off. If you don't wanna call tell the driver to call on the radio and ask if credit card machines are down. Even if the CC machines are down we have CC slips to fill out and turn in so that the office can run when they are back up. I wasn't yelling in my post I wanted everyone to see it. Watch when you ask the driver to call in on the radio to ask about CC machines. I bet his all the sudden starts working.

which is the fricking problem. You admitting that your drivers lie to costumers yet blame 80% ya'lls lack of success on costumers. frick you

Driving may have some financial benefits in a big city.. Like I said. Driving for Uber in BR would be a terrible decision once the city is flooded with drivers.

I love how you confirmed YC drivers are sketchy and dishonest. PR skills, you have them.

Can you blame them?

At least Uber is willing to venture into a market with such shitty clients. You should be happy. This allows you to concentrate on servicing your loyal customer base.

Do you think there is some organized conspiracy against the yellow cabs in BR? Do you think people give a shite who provides the best service at the best price? Is it a total mind numbing coincidence that just about everybody has the same complaints?

If you go reread your posts in this thread, I'm sure you'll laugh at yourself when you realize they're nothing but excuses as to why everybody has the same shitty experience.

In your original post you tried to argue that yellow cab is the better deal, if they offer the better deal then shouldn't you have faith that the market will steer itself?

There are a few drivers like myself who use square. So we have 3 methods of taking CC's. I agree there are some drivers that are not taking job seriously. If more complaints of the CC issue would get called in than yes you would see that problem get solved real quick.

The thing with a company like Uber (or Lyft or any of the other new ones) is that they are nimble and responsive enough to adapt to this.

There are a half-dozen different solutions to this problem - the best one is (and they might already have something like this and I don't know it) is to have a rating system similar to eBay. You rate your driver post-transaction on a scale of 1 to 5. He/she builds up a reputation through a lot of transactions and high ratings. You can see the driver's rating next to the little car icon on the Uber map, and you can select your driver based on the rating if you so desire.

If it is a problem, it is a solvable one.
