Because Twitter is the fricking town square that controls the information you receive. No, this is important. If Elon had owned Twitter in 2020, I’d bet Trump is still President. It may be so influential that Fauci would be in jail right now if the platform were allowed to function as intended. The censorship Twitter has overseen is evil and has ruined our lives.

I got impacted by a downsizing. And to make it worse it was valentines day. Went into the office, got called to my 2nd level managers office and was escorted to HR. Found myself in a room with multiple teams of employees and we were told our functions were being outsourced to IBM.
Was then escorted to my car. Someone else packed my personal belongings from my office and mailed them to me. Not sure I actually got all my stuff back. Had a picture frame broken.
Great valentines evening conversation with the wife.

It’s more that WARN requires 60 days notice for layoffs. So by paying at least 60 days severance, you basically make it a moot point as you’re paying them for the full 60 days anyway.
That’s how I understand it, but I’m definitely not a labor lawyer so take it for what it’s worth (not much).
