Well...that's not surprising in the least bit at this point.
What I found surprising was that there wasn't some outrage about him playing a guy missing a leg in that shitty Skyscraper movie.

Blacks are so racist, and bigoted even within each other. Nvr forget the first time I heard "high-yellow," when a super dark girl said why she wasnt digging a guy hitting on her. "Nah he high-yella"

All races are racist. Racism is ingrained in us as humans, as it was originally a survival mechanism.

People lost their shite over Ciri because it went away from "source material", and this is especially the same thing. Johnson is technically black, but no one really views him as a traditional black man. I have no problem with him playing John Henry, but both groups lost it over a fictional character.
Same.
Same.

Some black people are stupid racist towards lighter and blacker black people.

So who’s the desgnitated person that determines who’s black and who isn’t??
There’s always been an invisible civil war between who’s “black” and who isn’t black “enough”.
Just like the dark skin/light skin fight.
It’s saying He isn’t black “enough” for this, but if something else happens...Oh, he’s black.

To hear them criticize another black person for not being "black enough" just kills me. The leader of my bible study is black. The people who host it at their house are an interracial couple. They are very much "black" at times when they get around each other (kind of like how I get an accent again every time I go back to Louisiana), but they don't try to lean hard into any stereotypical view of black people. It's just a dumb thing.

I dated a lighter skinned black woman and she constantly criticized people for being too dark.

I'm not saying it's right. I honestly wouldn't think of him for that role right off the bat. Maybe Idris Elba. But you'll always have that group of people who take fiction way too seriously.
Johnson cast himself, so it's not like they have a white person to blame it on. And like someone pointed out, this is essentially a vocal minority and a non issue.

Wtf is a “traditional black man?”
That in itself is a horribly racist thing to say.

Just so we are clear... a couple of twitter trolls are now equal to "backlash"?
I can't figure out who to call a snowflake in this situation. Is is the twitter trolls that are bitching about nothing or everyone else in this thread bitching about the bitching.

Acting "too dark"?
No like literally being too dark a color. You'd be surprised how often that happens from what I've seen. It's stupid.
