where do you want to start? historical reliability of Jesus? historical reliability of scripture? source criticism compared to contemporaneous secular works? all of this is well established, to informed people at least.

and i did note that you weaseled out of trying to prove your claim that the bible is false, etc. typical.

All of it, I really want to see someone on this message board try to prove that God had a hand in the Bible. This should be hilarious.

And this is Exhibit A why religion is bogus.

If your religion says being a good person isn't enough, then its wrong.

Do we all get to roll our own? Or do I have to adhere to what you think isn’t “wrong”?

It's pretty convenient for the magic man in the sky to default to the, "well, I gave them free will" bit to not take credit for all the shitshows happening around the world. Oh but when something goes right or there's some miraculous recovery somewhere... yep, all him.

Bad shite - nope, don't look at me. I gave the human frickers free will. That's all them.

Good shite - yep, all me.

That's why they had to make up the Magic Man in Hell.

it's like people learned about religion from comic books.

so, how do you quantify being a "good" person? how many good deeds are enough?

how do you qualify being a "good" person? what kinds of good deeds are enough?

ah so when people crap on each other (gratuitous suffering), it's God's fault? makes sense

i guess you don't realize this is an excluded middle

it's amazing how stupid some people are regarding these religious topics. we've trained a few generations of people to be ignoramuses

translation - i'm too scared or too stupid to prove my point that the Bible isn't inspired. believe it or not, the presumption of atheism is silly. there is no invisible burden of proof on religious people. only brainwashed sheeple buy that crap

As in the father, son and holy spirit and christ coming back for the 2nd time or whatever?

Yeah, I am aware of it. I guess I just look at life a little different. I believe in a higher power, but not in the traditional way. I don't think following a certain religion's rules is the difference between someone spending a possible eternal life in peace or in suffering.

If someone is a good person. I mean, someone who dedicates their life to helping others and and have a positive role in many people's life, but they are not religious. They do not practice any type of religious beliefs, it's just not in their life. Is that person going to still suffer forever because he/she doesn't necessarily recognize the father, son and holy spirit?

peeple don't think it be like dat. but it doo. john 14:6

someone who dedicates their life to helping others and and have a positive role in many people's life
what makes that good? are you eligible if you dedicate your life to helping criminals commit crimes? you're helping them. define helping.

my gosh this is amazing

quote:

have a positive role in many people's life
define positive. how many people? how much time do i have to devote to them? can i do it with a bad attitude or is my attitude what makes the difference? muslims say it's ok to kill infidels. should i "help" them?

quote:

yes. did you reject God and what he told you?

ah. so atheists who shake their fist at him and persecute christians, they get to go to heaven too. WOW. what a bargain. what about buddhists and hindus who say there is no god? what about pagans who are polytheists?

what amazes me is not that people are mistaken. it's that they are so confident in their ignorance and criticize those of us who have spent decades studying these matters and have nearly 90 hours of graduate level theology.

just be honest and say you don't freaking know. at least you won't look like an arse
