The platform 100% did not break off. My source works for Shell and focuses on Mars / Olympus.

The drillship news is true with regard to it getting stuck in the storm. Unsure how bad it is and if there are casualties/injuries.

As someone who has ridden it out before on one I can tell you it's not fun.

Spoke with someone who focuses on it as well, and has been in contact with the om who says the report is false

I’m very concerned with the drillship though. I promise you every person on board had the SeaCor incident playing through their head.

The vast majority have subsea trees (BOPs) which are attached to the facility with risers.

FWIW, Mars has a considerable number of dry-tree wells.

I heard that was false as well….not sure if he would have the same insight there though.

I dont want to be anywhere near an ocean or a gulf or a damn pond if I have to ride out a hurricane.

I cant even imagine some of those rogue waves that can only been seen during lightning

I’m concerned for the people on board. Heard there are injuries. The ship is fine now.

I’ve been out of the industry/gom a while, so hopefully someone can correct anything below.

There is a 99.999% chance it did not break free. If it did, or there was any other issue, all the wells have been closed on the sea floor before it was evacuated.

If there is a drill ship stuck in the storm, there is a 100% chance no one is posting on Facebook about it. The satellites are spotty in a rainstorm, a cat 4 and the ship moving means there is very likely zero connectivity for them except for emergency radio type stuff.
