That means you are an extremely tough and mentally strong individual that is driven to succeed, which in its own right makes you a dangerous person. It has nothing to do with knowing how to box or fighting technique.
It does when you're fighting for your life.
In combat- Seal crushes your skull with rock he finds on the ground.
In a ring- Tapout guy gets SEAL in gay armbar and wins match.

Just because you train them does not mean you are tougher than they are. By having survived BUDS alone they could kick the ever living shite out of most individuals. From what I understand, they have to go through grueling training to get to be a SEAL after BUDS. You're an MMA guy you should know that there are fighters and then there are warriors. These guys are killers and warriors.
Oh I never would claim to be tougher that is for sure. And I agree fully they are warriors.
That is what I am getting at. Those guys are killers, plain and simple. They are trained unbelievably well to do their jobs. But for the most part, if they are rendered weapon less in a scrape they are trained to survive until their buddy arrives with a gun.
I sure as hell would never claim to be able to do anything they do in a combat situation. I would be dead. Even those undisciplined Somali militiamen have infinitely more combat experience than do I, and they don't even stand a chance
ETA, I could not make it through BUDS. I honestly don't think I could handle the cold water and sleep deprivation.

I went to church with another guy who was a helicopter pilot in Nam. He was shot down behind enemy lines. He said his survival training kicked in and he immediately took measures to cover himself up and hide as best he could. He said he got next to tree that had thick bushes all around it and put his back to the tree and just layed and waited. He said it did not take long for Charlie to swarm the area. He said there were problem a dozen all around him that night. He feared he was about to get captured.
Then all of the sudden a hand slipped over his mouth and grabbed him tight. The solider whispered in his ear he was there to rescue him and that he needed to hold tight. He said a few minutes later Charlie was quite. The unit took him to an evac and they got out. He claims they were SEALs that rescued him, however, now I question if they were DELTA and just like using SEAL as their call sign.

I don't think Delta came around until the 80s.

Dude shared his testimony in church and got all wheepy and said he had never told this story until then but that he felt he needed to share it. He said they were SEALs in his testimony in church.

Yeah if it was Nam it had to be SEALs that pulled him out of there. I believe it was common to use SEALs in this manner along with Air Force Pararescue.

Thought it was about in that time frame. I'm not sure but it seems like I remember reading that Delta Force was at least partially conceived due to the massacre at the 72 Olympics in Munich.

That's per the Delta Wiki page (citation needed), so take that FWIW.

There is a guy around here that was supposedly some kind of SF operator in Vietnam....I know the guy fairly well and I've heard some stories from other people that have known him for a long time, but I have a real hard time believing it...mostly just because the guy is a contemptible human being.

He's the real deal too. Recon guy.
I train sometimes with a dude that works for the Houston PD SWAT Team. His brother actually was my first jits instructor, but I digress. Anyway, he is former Recon from the early 90's, did DS and Somalia. Cool guy and his ground game is scary good. He's a Sambo guy that will rip shite off your body.

My brother's best friend since probably ten is a SEAL and is actually DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6 as some call it.)
He is a red head which I'm sure there aren't many of those in the teams or DEVGRU for that matter. What I'm curious about is every account I've read or seen of the Osama Bin Laden preparation and night he was killed they all mention a red head guy. I want to fricken know if he was there.
I doubt I or anyone else for that matter will find out.

You base your doubts that this guy was SF in Nam because he's a contemptible human being"?

My great uncle was UDT back in the day which was the precursor to the SEALs. Story goes that he was told to stay back on a mission due to injury, but on that mission his entire team died.
