You're telling me a country where this is a common sight is the most polluted in the world?

I read that the Indian railway system averages over 90 deaths per day. The trains don't stop after they hit someone... they just keep rolling and leave the remains behind for people to clean up from the tracks.

How has some mutant disease not formed there and ravaged that country is beyond me.

Maybe the river is what secretly keeps them strong.

They seriously need state sanctioned vasectomies in the slums in India.

I've said this before to people. How they haven't been subjected to a modern plague defies statistics.

They do have industrial strength antibiotics available over the counter and people take them for everything over there. I read that some people believe in taking them every day like a vitamin.

When the "super bug" destroys humanity, it will likely be born in India.

Antibiotic resistance is a global phenomenon. But the epicentre of this catastrophe is India. The country is afflicted by easy access to the strongest of antibiotics without prescriptions or diagnoses; even by qualified doctors, not just quacks, who prescribe drugs with little thought; by hospitals where overuse has created colonies of these superbugs; by excessive usage on livestock; and by poor sanitation. All this has created a kind of perfect storm for these super-resistant microbes to menace our health.

TL:DR - India is going to kill mankind because they're fricking nasty and stupid.

The amount of China on this list seems low.

Either India is really that nasty, or the Chinese aren't revealing their true condition

Having traveled extensively in India and a decent amount in China the pollution in India is much worse than China. That isn't to say that China is "clean" on the whole India is just really bad in a way people who haven't traveled outside the 1st world can really comprehend.

All the first world countries have been through their industrial revolutions and all have horrible pollution during that age and at some point decided they didn't or couldn't live like that. China seems to already be acknowledging that but India really hasn't but India is still a very poor country outside of the better parts of cities like Mumbai.

I view the US as the leader of the world in many areas as well as in the general sense. One of the primary tenets of leaders is leading by example, we can't coax other countries to do "the right thing" as long as we aren't seen to be going above and beyond as a leader.
