Pennsylvania might be legit.

38. Pennsylvania
> Middle of nowhere: About 1 mile south of Hailstone Hollow, Hammersley Wild Area
> Distance from nearest city: 2 hours, 47 minutes
> GPS coordinates: 41°31’45?N, 77°52’15?W

That place is southeast of Coudersport. Very few people have heard of Coudersport.

It's about 4 miles from a winding state highway that eventually hits Interstate 80, which can take you to State College.

With a wooded area like that, you would need at least an hour to get to the road. Lot of obstacles to slow your movement.

Per Google Maps, the closest town to that point is Cross Fork, PA which is 1 hour, 47 minutes from State College. The driving distances to Corning, NY and Williamsport, PA are shorter. The satellite map shows all woods so Cross Fork has to be where you hop in the car. The fact that it just happens to come out to X:47 indicates they think it would take one hour to get out of the woods.

State College would have to be the closest place they consider a city, as it's further than Corning and Williamsport, and there is no way to get to an NFL city in that time.

So that could help reverse engineer their definition of a city.

Is that mountains in the background of the Louisiana pic?

Before I even posted the OP, I noticed that picture and I saw the "mountains" in the distance. I was wondering it myself, but I figured y'all would be able to verify it for me.

Cool idea. Horrible execution. You can crisscross and entire state in seven hours so how can you not get close to a sitting under that time?

Just drive across Texas. You'll see plenty of nowhere.

They didn't explain their methodology well, at all. In fact, they said "... travel time — measured by foot, boat, car, or plane..." and I guarantee a bush pilot (with a float plane in some cases) could cut a lot of those travel times down to less than an hour. Still interesting, though.

I'm assuming in some cases you have to walk through miles of wilderness to reach a paved road.

List is crap. I don't know what they define as a city, but Panther Swamp Refuge in Mississippi is only like 20 minutes from Yazoo City. Of that's not big enough it is about an hour and 15 minutes from Jackson. It says 4 hours 32 minutes from a city. I'll bet there are about 7-8 cities or more over 200,000 people closer than that.

Must be walking time
