It's 'ain'. My mother still has the books she read to me and my siblings...all say 'ain'.
People want to think it is 'ein' because it's a more common ending to a name.

This. My mom still has the books as well. I had her check for me when I saw this post earlier. The fact that the Internet sites come up as "stain" is no surprise. If we transferred into an alternate universe, the Internet would be accurate to the new "stain" universe, not the old "stein". However, I'm not sure singular possessions would be transferred and changed the same way

Your linkedin search yielded proof that our former "berenstein bears" universe existed, where all else is right in this new "berenstain bears" univese, is proof that a parallel universe exists?
Isn't it more likely that it is a misnomer, like "i could care less"

I remember it as stein as well but this wouldn't be the first time my brain has played tricks on me with words. I remember I read a star wars episode III book before the movie came out and in my head I pronounced General Grevous as "Grevious" and didn't realize that I had added the i without knowing. Two of my friends who read the book did the same thing. Here's another example to prove that we don't actually read everything we think we're reading

It's Berenstein. That's what it is.
And, admit it, of there were time travelers, this would be the all time perfect way to use time travel. Subtle trolling.
That's a good point. I'm in on this theory

Andrew S. Friedman, a National Science Foundation (NSF) postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), argues that the effect is really caused by fallible human memories, and that the notion that it is related to quantum physics is unfounded.[2]
Well he also thought Jim Johnson would help out the back end of his bullpen, so I'll need some more opinions.

If you go along with this, what we know about the world isn't what we know about the world at all, which cancels out your points entirely anyway.
You have smoked yourself retarded.
