The longer you live alone, the more you like it?

Spinoff from the previous thread on living alone; is it safe to say that the more years you live alone, the harder it would be to live with someone else? The single ppl in that thread indicated they loved living alone so much, they would never want to change that or be open to settling down. Just wonder if that's how the vast majority of ppl feel today, perhaps an unintended consequence of today's dating scene/hookup culture.

Only introverts can truly enjoy it and statistics say you still won't live as long.

So, you pick your poison.

I feel bad for people who want to live a lone forever. But to each his own. IMO it would suck to live alone.

Even if I got married, which I never would. I'd still live alone

That's funny. I feel bad for people that need to be surrounded by others for happiness.

People in general are disappointing. I think even extroverts would agree with that. But the extreme extroverts need others to sustain themselves. I've seen many a people ruin their lives and get involved with bad people simply because they can't stand to be alone.

Balance is ideal. I like my very small circle of friends, but even then I need a substantial amount of time alone.

Being alone is awesome. I'm always stress free and can relax when I'm alone.

I find people who always have to have somebody around overly needy and kind of annoying.

When you live alone you can beat to the sound of your own drum, so to speak. You are responsible for everything, but when living with someone else there are certain responsibilities that become a higher priority than if you are living alone and you have to split those responsibilities.

You go from doing what you want to having to live under a compromise.

I've seen both sides of this.
I've known people that were single but very outgoing and had a wide circle of interests and friends. They functioned normally and had very fulfilling lives.
But sadly I've known some who were socially awkward and shy and found it hard to venture out. Their world view was really skewed and it was hard to deal with them. The later type also tend to hang out on social media, see what others are doing and think their lives are meaningless or try to live their lives through others.
Take your pick.

Its want, not need. Those people aren't sociopaths.

I've lived alone for about 7 years now. I used to hate it and be lonely all the time, but now I'm pretty accustomed to it. I'm used to everything in my house being exclusively private to me except for visitors, so it would be a bit weird to share all of that space with someone else all the time. But ultimately I want to have a partner who lives with me.

I like living alone, but with good folks in very close proximity. It bothers me that I can't just go knock on my neighbors door and shoot the shite (and yes, I have tried).

That's why I enjoyed hosting WWOOFers and apprentices - they never stayed in the house with me (unless they were hot women), but I build some cabins and yurts for them to live in, maybe a hundred yards from the main house. They had to deal with my drunk/stoned/tripping arse showing up to talk to them about existential topics. Some dug it, and stuck around. Others realized they were working for a crazy man and left.

That actually sounds like a pretty fun summer experience. Would have been cool when I was in college.

Living alone is the best. I feel like I have to be social all the time at work. It's so relaxing to come home and have no one to ask me questions. I don't like the feeling of forced interaction you get when living with roommates. I lived alone, had roommates, lived with an ex, and now recently moved out solo. It's so nice.

Living with a SO is nice too but I'm perfectly happy living alone until I meet someone I can deal (or deal with me).

Different strokes for different folks. being able to walk around naked is one of the best perks

That doesn't stop when you have a SO, although it obviously does when you have kids.
