I tend to side with freedom versus government "knowing best".

lol, nobody cares what your opinion is. Congrats on having an opinion.

But, wouldn’t private parties negotiating and agreeing to whatever terms they want be unfettered freedom.

Getting the government involved with rules, restrictions and taxes sounds like less freedom.

This is a message board where topics are discussed and opinions given. Another terrible take by you.

Unfortunately government has already inserted itself in gambling. If they dont allow poker rooms, underground ones will make a comeback. Since they are illegal, it brings an element of crime that poker rooms don't have due to them being able to hire security among other benefits.

If someone really enjoys playing poker, a poker club is probably much better than playing at a casino. I wish there were a poker club around here. But a state as big, but I know Louisiana hopes Texas never makes casinos legal... Oklahoma as well.

I say this every time a gambling thread pops up…

I can, immediately, go to the bank and take out the max my bank allows and go to lauberge and put it all on black and lose it all.

I cannot, however, put $100 on a regulated poker client that is relatively safe to play on to play a few tournaments or cash games.

I can put down a $1000 bet on Korean ping pong on an app from my phone but cannot play a $50 sit and go on poker stars.

It’s the dumbest thing

I think Doug Polk has an online site that can be played, FWIW. The last time I did was during Covid (when BTC was $5k) but there has been a real expansion in options since 2020.

I don't play online b/c the players are way too good and I spent a lot of time developing a live strategy that was profitable. It would get slaughtered online and I don't feel like starting over studying all over again. It's almost gambling with how good players online are, until it consolidates back into a major thing with enough fish to make non-professional play profitable again.
