If the speed limit is 70 and you go 80 in the left lane, can you still be pulled over?

The OT makes me think that everyone should go 100 in the left lane but I am not so sure if the law agrees.

Then why is everyone mad if you don’t speed in the left lane? I do 74 mph and people go berserk

Regardless of speed, if you use the left lane you're an a-hole.

I like to go the exact speed limit and stay in left lane. Anyone who doesn't like it is nothing but a law-breaker.

Left lane is a passing lane. Not necessarily a speeding lane.

Because the left lane shouldn't be used unless you are passing someone going slower than you in the right lane.

Because you are in the passing lane and they want to pass you. I'm not sure why this is difficult.

But people think the speed limit is slow. I have never seen someone in the left lane do anything less than 80

Because if they were not breaking the speed limit there would be no need to pass him.

The left lane is for passing, not for speeding.

If you're doing 80 and the right lane is clear, you should be in the right lane.

Fun fact: I have never witnessed a cop blue light someone speeding in the left lane.

I have witnessed several blue light someone staying in the left lane for an extended period of time.

The lesson? Laws are only important if they are enforced.

Then please explain the need for a 3 or even 4th or more lane in a non-urban area? There are stretches in Texas for example between Beaumont and Houston with nothing but pasture on each side with 3 lanes. If you should be in the right lane unless you're passing, that 3rd lane should NEVER be used.

Sure can.

You can also be pulled over for being in the left lane and not actively passing the car on your right.

Both are illegal.

Don't break the law a-hole.

I’ve seen a ton off aholes barely doing 70 in the left lane. No idea why or when ppl decided that it’s best for them to never leave the left lane.

What’s wrong with doing 70? Any more and it’s illegal. Are you encouraging others to break the law? It’s a speed LIMIT not a minimum

I've had several instances of while I was driving on I20 here in the Columbia area where I've passed over 10 or more cars in the right lane.

Ya, as in all ten cars were in the left lane. Not a single car in the right lane.

The worst was when I drove a little over two miles down I20, not a single car in the right lane. Every single car was in the left lane.

People are gonna speed, just accept this reality. All you are doing is making the road less safe.
