Bassists are always in demand because most people just want to play guitar or drums. If I were you, I would start practicing a little every day to work up your calluses and use ultimate-guitar.com to teach yourself tab. After a few months, start looking on craigslist or baton rouge musicians page and you're sure to find listings of bands looking for bassists. Decent bassists are usually in at least 3 or 4 bands, so anyone who is decent enough to play basic stuff, play a little by ear, and walk with enough time to commit to a band is definitely worth their salt.

i suck too much, but imma keep at it. if i had money, id do the br music camp. but playing with kids is cheesy. im gonna write songs, my main goal playing wise is to play in a show here and imress some girls. im digging audioslave and beatie boys

Play because you like to play. Aspire to be an excellent player, not for pussy, but for the thing itself. Any goal that is pursued for extraneous purposes will be unsuccessful.
The same goes for you losing weight, getting a better job, expanding your knowledge, or whatever. Don't seek the benefits, seek the ideal. The benefits will come.

Bass is the most useless instrument and when you play bass you always gotta balance your long hours delivering pizza with playing
I’ve played bass for 10 years and somewhere around year 2 I realized it’s the most useless member of the band. Most of the time the crowd can’t even hear you

The irony is that most women can get those men, they just have to pick a number. Those guys have plenty of women to chose from.
That is why it is hilarious when most women say they are waiting "for the best" when realistically they are average at best.

This can be very true or extremely untrue depending on the genre of music and the quality of the bassist. In some genres like Reggae, funk/jazz, prog rock, and classic hard rock (think Led Zeppelin, Foghat, etc) the bass is hugely important, where as in indie pop and pop punk, it’s not very important at all, and in metal, it often can’t stand ot enough to be noticed.

not true. with good speakers and getting stoned, you can appreciate good bassline in any music from beatles to the queens of the stone age. bass can be pretty fun . keyboard is a cool un glory getting player too.
