I heard this theory awhile back and I wonder how true it is.
The idea being that in certain countries with extremely high standard of living g, like Luxembourg and Austria, and Scandinavia, people feel no impetus to be nice because the chances of strangers in any way influencing their current standard of living is so low that there’s no benefit to being kind or social

Affluence can be a huge drag on society. Most humans arent fit to be leisurely and wealthy, it changes who we are for the worst.

More precisely I’d say the higher the standard, the more the entitlement/taking it for granted.
The most hilarious part about the 1% protests was the ignorance that even poor college students are in the 1% globally. But somehow that’s (D)ifferent

The US and particularly parts of the south have high standards of living, especially compared to the vast majority of the world and we're generally not rude outside of the northeast and some parts of the west coast.
A lot of Europeans are just assholes with an undeserved superiority complex built on a foundation of lies that they'd have been just fine without America or Americans.

Dafuq!?
Not saying there aren’t some nice pockets, but not at all wide swathes of wealth like other parts of the country

The colder the country, the colder the people.
Then there's the corollary, the hotter the country, the hotter the women's tempers.

The standard of living per capita in Texas suburbs is better than pretty much anywhere else in the country. Big cities have big problems and high costs. The northeast has pockets of extreme wealth mixed with dilapidated houses just like the south.
High salary doesn't always equal a good standard of living if the costs are high to match it.
