Has anyone listened to the podcast series that Glynn Washington on Snap Judgment hosted?
I listed to all episodes earlier this year on a long road trip and it's actually pretty fascinating.
I didn't realize that the cult was so long lasting, it wasn't a quick process but took decades.

We are doing better, thanks. It's something we still deal with every day but you learn to cope.

Sad, but true.
Sometimes nicknamed "Nike Up, Up, and Aways" (from the Fifth Dimension song which seemed fittingly appropriate), and the more obvious "Air Applewhite's", or "Nike Comets".
What can I say, my circle in those days was comprised mostly of ill bred, evil, retarded miscreants.
Actually they've not changed all that much beyond aging ungraciously and putting away a little coin. I need to ditch this mob, they've been leading me astray for years.

They committed suicide in March of 1997 and that website was registered in December of 1997.
