I've only been here since '11. House built in '04. The new neighborhoods down this way will change everything. Building things up will divert water. Cutting down trees will divert. Better drainage as roads are repaved.... You get the idea.

Actually all that will make flooding worse.

I didn't say things would be better. My point was that it would make things different.

Great. Been at work since 5PM in New Iberia and will probably not be able to get home in Lafayette. Literally every single road out of here is barricaded. And the ones that aren't are under curfew.

I'm in Watson off Bend Rd. The bridge over the creek is under by at least 3-4 ft it appears. That didn't happen in March.

The feeders to the Amite are creeping into my backyard by about 30 feet. Also didn't happen in March.

It came up FAST. Livingston peeps be very vigilant. Regretting not getting the wife and kids out today.

ETA: just checked it 30 minutes after the first time...water is another 5-10 into my backyard so that's probably another 2 feet or so vertically based on the slope....in 30 minutes.

Fuuuuuuuck

500yr flood = 0.2% chance of flooding in a year (zone X or B)

100 yr = 1% chance in any given year
