Just south of where Juban hits 16. There's a fire station up 16 near Petes Hwy I'm going to try first.

Yeah this crap needs to stop. I have some wet carpet and I think my brother is about to get flooded. Neither of us have ever been flooded.

Looks like a strong band is setting up NW of BR moving that way, just like the HRRR said.

My sister lives on Antioch and I would hate to see there house flood (elevation 27.5)
I'm basically between Antioch and manchac at 25ft. I feel like we should be fine since it's forecasted to crest at 21

Remember, that forecast is from a few hours ago, and isn't including any future rainfall. It could go up. Just saying to be prepared just in case man.

They don't include future rainfall in the crest forecasts?
Posted on 8/13/16 at 12:37 am to GEAUXmedic
Oh damn I thought it included future rainfall!

Correction, they include predicted rainfall for the next 24 hours. Still, the crest forecast could end up growing as time progresses given any locally higher rainfall totals.

Gotta be close to you ell...smart-arse too I guess. South of Juban on 16.
Either of you guys here in 83? Been talking to a guy who was but 30 years of changes makes me think all bets are off. We built up our slab a good bit 10 yrs ago when we built this place but now I'm starting to get a little worried

I have a question, what did I post that gave you a hint I live off of Juban?
Posted on 8/13/16 at 12:49 am to GEAUXmedic
Gotcha. Still too close for comfort

I've only been here since '11. House built in '04. The new neighborhoods down this way will change everything. Building things up will divert water. Cutting down trees will divert. Better drainage as roads are repaved.... You get the idea.

If I have anything positive to say at this hour is that for now, lightning frequency isn't very impressive. Although any rain is bad enough, current rainfall rates aren't staggering. It's only storms with copious lightning that are dropping the monsoonal, water comes up in a matter of minutes, type rains.
This has been the trend near Lafayette over the last 24 hours. Early this morning I felt like the lightning was going to blow up the house it was so bad. This is the same period that deliverd the bulk of our rain so far. Since about 10am the rain has been light to steady. Flooding hasn't gotten any worse despite the rain being nonstop. I just fear another convective bursting pattern.
