Here's what I need to know, I live in hammond and the flooding in the spring came less than an inch from entering my home. Is this going to be more or less rain than the spring?
I think the difference in our area was the strong SE wind we had for several days leading up to the spring flood. Lake water was pushed into the rivers and they were already up before the rain even started, so there was nowhere for runoff.
At least that didn't happen this time, but I guess if we get enough rain it wouldn't matter anyway.

OK but if he stays put in the cab ... he oughta be ok right??

Perhaps someone here can report, but an empty condo is the least of anyone's worries at the moment.
Just let everything calm down and go check on it Sunday or Monday. That's what insurance is for. Plus, there ain't shite you can do about it now.

Count, what's the water situation looking like in your hood?
Posted on 8/12/16 at 12:23 pm to tiger91
Probably? If it doesn't topple over.

Well I have a hs sophomore and if it was me, I'd stay. Honestly, what do they do the first day anyway?

He is out of the cab, looked like it was taking in water, now standing on the side of tank

No I totally agree with you. My dad is just like that. Can't tell him anything!

Show your dad the pictures of the flooding and see if he changes his mind.
Specifically, maybe this one...

It never floods on my street. The Vermilion gotta come up about 20 feet for that to happen. Guess I need to put even more drains in my backyard.... how bout yall?

Now the river is going to be a foot higher.
I've heard that too. I'm still trying to figure out how much of that is hype. I guess a lot still depends on how much it's raining a little north of there, but I don't want to make plans to start moving someone out or raising their shite and then the damn river crest at 38.

Drains don't help if there's nowhere to drain to.
Posted on 8/12/16 at 12:29 pm to Fatty Magoo
True, but my streets not flooded and they drain out the backyard to the street. Nothing drains fast when you get 6 inches of rain in a few hours.

I can't watch that video. God bless that driver.

It's all projection. Might happen, might not.
No on knows for sure. But the models exist for a reason. They are rarely 100% accurate, but that's just how projections are. But, they are based on science and computers and shite and are more likely to be correct that you and your buddies sitting around guessing.
By the time we "know" it will crest at 40' it will be too late to do anything.
What's the old expression? Better to sit and be skeptical than to prepare appropriately? No, wait, that doesn't sound right.
If you NEED to do something go do it. Like now. What is the harm in moving some stuff upstairs and then nothing happens.
