In April 1991, me and my Dad went on The Geraldo Rivera Daytime Talk Show. He just posted this clip.

It was a week before my 19th birthday. It aired June 4th. June 4th is both of my brother's Anniversary.

I watched this at The Cowboy Sports Café in Valley Ranch (Irving), TX.

I look angry.

I think you probably had every right to be angry.

edit: You seemed to have been a well spoken young man for your age and so was your dad. You've carried that story with you for 35 years.

Do you know if Doucet was buried or cremated?

If buried, have you pissed on his grave?

He's definitely buried. I was curious about that myself and Googled him one time. Usually, pieces of shite like him and serial killers and scattered in unknown places. Not him.

Wow...

Can I ask you non invasive questions?

If I can...

1) What was that like sitting on TV discussing your ordeal?

2) Why were you initially upset with your father for his actions?

3) Your mother, not being in this clip, how did she cope with all of this?

Now, for comments...

1) You came across remarkably collected.
2) You already know your Daddy is a hero.
3) I hope your life has been well- I know of you and see you post from time to time, but I truly hope you've been heaped with blessings in these many years.

What a terrible situation you were put thru. I think any Father would have had the same reaction.

How was Geraldo? He’s always seemed like a legit journalist to me. His willowbrook start should’ve ended any illusion that the govt could do anything effectively.

The ending of that interview is epic. Your dad is a hero Jody. No regrets. He did what was necessary.

You don't look angry enough.

You look like a young man still standing strong after enduring a horrific nightmare. You were more grounded at 19 than I would have been. In fact, most of my moments up in to my 40's I lacked that kind of maturity and control. Pretty sure I had a few moments last week where I still acted like a weak petulant boy instead of a strong mature man.

Mad props to your dad for saying he would shoot him again in the same circumstance, and same to you for how well you’ve handled it all. You boys are made of stronger stuff than most people are nowadays.
