And that footage is premiering at the Venice Film Festival under the title, "The Devil and Father Amorth".

Interesting tidbit from the article:

quote:

You have subsequently consulted with scientists in the U.S. about what you witnessed and filmed. What did they say?

I consulted with neurologists, brain surgeons, some of the best in the United States. The brain surgeons had no idea what her affliction was and none of them would recommend an operation. They believe that everything originates in the brain but — and they say this in the film — they have never seen anything quite like these symptoms….Then the psychiatrists…all described how psychiatry now recognizes demonic possession. It’s called dissociative identity disorder/demonic possession. And if a patient comes in and says they are possessed by a demon or a devil, they don’t tell them that they are not….They do whatever psychiatric treatment they think is necessary, including medication. And they bring an exorcist in.

DID is the new term for multiple personality disorder. Demonic possession would still be considered a delusion possibly indicative of schizophrenia under DSM-5.

My 3 year old niece sometimes thinks she's a dog and we placate her; doesn't mean we actually think she's a dog and we draw the line at hiring this guy-

This is a subject that I find intriguing. We all know it was a prevalent practice but unsure if it is real. I've seen some videos that are very disturbing to say the least. Couple that with real paranormal experiences and I can only wonder.

You should be using the DSM-5(PC) ... that's the Politically Correct version.

In my opinion, a true demonic possession involves some super-natural ability of the person possessed . If not, it's a psychiatric problem, not a true possession .

All the videos I found titled demonic possessions, show mentally ill people. None had superhuman strength or spoke in tongues or other voices. Seizures on video is not demonic possession. I havent seen anything other than the Excorcist that can convince me its real.

Because such a video does not exist. All that we have are old anecdotal reports about the way someone acted from the priest who was there.

which means it's bullshite. If they lie about molestation, demonic possession is a drop in the bucket.

It's disheartening that people actually believe a demon crawls into people's ears to gives them seizures and a sweet tooth for bugs.

I knew a guy who was an orderly at a mental hospital many years ago. He said they would occasionally have people who would flip out and show strength that he didn't comprehend them being able to have. He said he once saw a girl who weighed less than 100 lbs pick up a potted tree and throw it towards a doctor. It took three orderlies to get her strapped down.

That will never be listed under the demonic possession file as she wasn't in the hospital for "demon possession", but you could tell he wasn't sure what the hell he had seen.
