Malls are dead, sir. The internet has vanquished areas with multiple malls leaving one survivor, unless you're in Slidell where the internet has yet to be discovered. Northshore Square still rockin.

They better not close down Kanno, Korea House, Ohana, etc.

a good idea to build a store in a dying ghetto mall?
It really isn't that ghetto. Sure it has some low income areas near it, but they only have that one bridge that connects to the mall.
The problem is more bad management in the last 20 years than it is location.
People from Laplace and Destrehahn and all used to go to Esplanade now they go to Lakeside.
Even the "ghetto" there is more of an upper lower class ghetto. There isn't many bad aparments and rentals near the mall.

Exactly... Looking at that map, if you move left from Chateau, there is nice sub-division after nice sub-division. North Kenner is far from the ghetto, it is south Kenner that has its issues

It's called simply "New Orleans", big shithole like Memphis and Detroit. That's call you need to know.

I haven't been to Esplanade since before Katrina. Is it worse than Oakwood?

You comparing Nola to Detroit is a lame attempt at trolling.

Kanno has moved from that horrible strip mall location.

The area by Chateau is still good as are the neighborhoods by the lake.

They moved into the red building where the Mexican place was.
Really wish the old Ground Pati/Wow Wingery would be bulldozed. That place is an eyesore on Severn.

The Esplanade Mall. WTF happened?
Obesity happened.
Malls require that you WALK from store to store. Women are too fat these days for that.

Is it as bad as Northgate Mall in Lafayette?
Posted on 12/6/14 at 3:18 pm to Rex
The outdoor mall is the new thing now. Personally I think outdoor malls are great.... In places like San Diego or LA. The Firewheel Town Center outdoor mall outside of Dallas looks nice and fancy but who the frick wants to walk around outside in 105 degree heat all summer? Then in the winter you may have 20 degree days or colder. Just seems stupid to me.
