I will say this, there are a lot of kids playing travel ball that shouldn’t. So many teams that just aren’t competitive enough to really compete. Our team was in Hammond last weekend. Played up in 10u. Won one game 11-0 and another game 11-0 and another 26-0. These teams had no business playing travel ball

I assume, there are teams, like I mentioned earlier. Someone's kid didn't make a team so their dad got pissed and decided to start his own team that includes a few kids who didn't make that team along with other kids who didn't make other teams..

From Little League age to Middle School age we played around the neighborhood of 1k avg per season for him to play.
The additional expenses, such as lodging, food, gas and weekend passes probably averaged around $200-300 per tournament.

Once our soon reached HS age, yearly fee of his Fr year was $1500 and by his Sr year was at $1700. At this age, it's no longer called "travel ball"....Its called "showcase baseball".
The difference being in Showcase ball wins really do not matter unless your chasing trophies. The objective is for your child to showcase his abilities in Hope's of catching the eye of a college recruiter/coach.
Also college coaches will inform the showcase team coach they are coming and would like to see player X pitch a few innings and then see player XX come in for a few innings.
Best advice I've heard from college coaches is this. If your child is not a pitcher, make sure hes on a team that has great arms (pitchers) and that your son can rake (hit). Recruiters will be at those games checking out the arms and also watching the hitters.

If you want your son to be noticed, you wont see many, if any recruiters at your local REC league games.

Most of these legit teams have sponsors donating serious coin. New equipment every season, under armour unis, Oakley shades, etc. it’s insane

Yep! Huge bonus for the players and the parents bank account. Didn't have to buy catchers mitt, gear, batting gloves,etc..etc.. which = more money in our pocket. Plus we (the Parents) received a "tournament packet" from teams sponsors that included several $50 gift cards to be used for food, lodging and gas!
