Yeah my aunt was Cancer free last year, she passed in September.
Cancer scares the shite out of me, it and Alzheimer's are my biggest fears, and both run in the family.

I knew a husband who lost his wife to cancer. He went off down this conspiracy road. He would tell everyone that would listen that drug companies had found the cure long ago, but they won't release it because of the loss in revenue. They would rather millions die.
Honestly, he started to come across as tin foil type. I think after he got over her loss, years later, he realized how crazy he was sounding.

I hate to tell you this, but I've known several people that were deemed "cancer free" after a course of drugs/chemo/radiation. In every single one, they remained cancer free for a while, then it returned with a vengeance and they were dead within months.
Cancer free doesn't mean much, and it pains me to say that.
edit: assuming he lives long enough. He could die from other causes before that happens.

Jobs had a variation of islet cell carcinoma, the preferred method of treatment is surgery which Jobs had 9 months after diagnosis. He also had a liver transplant, so that is not exactly shunning modern medicine. There is a possibility his outcome might have been better if the surgery was done earlier, but he lived eight years beyond diagnosis, even with optimum treatment less than 40% of all islet cell patients survive that long.

When I finished "treatment", I was told you are in remission. I was never told I was cancer free, fwiw

That's key. Work with cancer patients daily and my mother in law was one of the strangest cases I've seen. Cervical cancer treated successfully and 15 years later had recurrent cervical cancer. Didn't last long the second time.
Anytime it can't be cut out before it spreads, it is very hard to rid the body of it. Ever.

"Remission with no discernible signs," was what I was told. Asked one of the docs why the longwinded way of saying it and he said it's all about CYA these days.

Dad is going through Pancreatic cancer now and only one chemo option left he starts next week.
A clinical trial with immunotherapy drugs are his next step. The success they have had with certain types is good news and trials have started with all solid tumor type cancers.

You do know it costs tons of time and money to research these cures.
You want the private sector to spend hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars developing a cure for something and then just give it away for free?
