Hasn't really been the same since Frank Davis left. Losing Laura Buchtel made it worse. The replacements and changes in programming have not helped.
I also believe the 2016 election hurt as many viewers likely turned to national news outlets, and perhaps haven't come back.

WWL-TV is what the old folks watch because they expect to see Walter Cronkite on after the local news.
