This is hype and inaccurate. They actually created a grey wold hybrid with the some of the characteristics of the dire wolf.

BBC presentation on what actually happened

Why? Humans had little to no impact on those animals going extinct. Their climate change super fast relative to geo time and they couldn’t survive. Humans had had a lot less impact on this planet than we want to believe

What people forget is that it wasn't just large animals that went extinct during that time. There were also birds, rodents and reptiles that got wiped out.

I'm suprised it's even debated that it was anything but the climate. Articles will go out of thier way to make everything humans fault. Plus the rapid climate change back then directly contradicts the narrative we are being sold today.

There is basically zero chance this ends well, why are we doing this?

I have to wonder about the validity of that article. I can't speak too much on the editing of the dna but I do know that the claim that the recovered dire wolf dna is badly damaged is inaccurate which leads me to question the whole article.

The climate at the time flash froze a lot of these animals and has kept them frozen this whole time. They are so well preserved that many still have liquid blood. Researchers even ate a portion of a 50k year old steppe bison. Sounds nuts...but they did it.

That's why we know so much about animals of that time period. They have been preserved in permafrost for tens of thousands of years. Even the habitat itself has been preserved incredibly well.

North America lost some crazy impressive animals. Lions, tigers, bears and some monstrous size prey animals.

Same thing that always happens with advanced tech. The gov finds a way to use for evil.

Actually they are allowed to freely roam a 2000 acre compound. What could go wrong?
Looks like someone needs to watch Jurassic park.

I'd have to assume they have been sterilized ....hopefully.

With all the dna they have gathered of various species I imagine these wolves are gonna be the first of many. Pretty sure they have cave lion and short face bear dna. A 2000 pound bear would make one hell of a zoo exhibit.

Guarantee you this is exactly what people with power and influence would do. They have the money and connections to coerce this lab to breed these as guard dogs. Would not be surprised to learn another Diddy or Jeffrey Epstein type figure was doing this 20 years from now.

These aren’t even close to being Dire Wolves. They are just grey wolves with a few tweaks.
