have owned 3 cats in my lifetime thus far. been very lucky with em. all of them have been very affectionate. 1 is in in pet heaven and the other 2 are in good health. My wife jokes that my black cat is my shadow. she follows me everywhere, and waits at the door when im outside for me to come back in.

cats are cool, despite what this board says most of the time.

dogs are cool too though, have 2 now, and want to get a dobie soon.

Don't understand the cat hate. They go out and take care of their own business, they keep to themselves and they're clean.

look into bengals. they usually need to be walked. they are a very high energy cats that need outlets for said energy. gorgeous animals but need a dedicated owner.

I never wanted a cat but I owned one for 20 years. My cat developed cancer. Right before she died I was outside and a cat I'd never seen before watched my cat come to me to be picked up and taken inside.

I was outside several months later and I saw the strange cat. She came up to me and started rubbing against my leg. The strange cat will disappear for weeks or months but she always comes to me.

The cat is socialized and well cared for by someone. She loves to be petted but she's complete nonvocal.

Now I have the perfect pet. Over 2 years we bonded. I don't feed her. I don't worry about her. I don't have to make arrangements when I travel.

My dog killed my cat instantly. The dog, a rescue, was actually trying to be friendly with the cat for months and the cat was a total dick. The cat would hiss and swat at her... this progressed and the cat, an indoor/outdoor cat, avoided the dog all together. If they were anywhere near each other the cat hissed and growled and ran away. My dog got to the point where she would growl and try to chase the cat... One day the cat was caught slipping and my dog caught her. It happened really quickly... she had the cat’s entire head in her mouth and gave one violent shake before I could get to her... the cat was done. I was pissed at the dog but the cat was 13 years old, it was dead, it was the one who decided to make their relationship adversarial... and the dog—a female pit bull—was absolutely awesome... other than killing the cat.

Yeah that is a completely false statement.

Both, either the cat or chiweenie, will get eaten by coyotes.

It's interesting how we perceive cats' strong, innate, instinctive abilities to hunt, be self-sufficient, and independent as a sign of intelligence. Studies that look at neural activity in animal brains have found that dog brains, across the board, have much more active brains than cats which, according to scientists, indicates a higher intelligence.

I think humans, especially Americans, look at the "rugged individualist" as an icon of sorts...a wise man who doesn't need society or technology to survive. When looking at dogs and cats, dogs are the anti-individualist. Apparently they've come to appreciate and rely upon the value of mutually beneficial relationships with humans. Cats don't seem to comprehend the value of those relationships, falling back on instinct. Yet we credit cats for being the smart ones.

many years ago i was sitting on my back yard patio smoking a ciger late at night enjoying a cigar. on hand on cigar, the other just hanging on the side of my chair. suddenly out of nowhere a felt a furry presence brush against my hand. scared the crap out of me. Was the neighbors cat. petted him for awhile and he sat with me. So i gained a smoking buddy for a few years. he would come visit me frequently.

you're the type of person who has made the pitbull a shite breed. You should have taken some action once the dog starting showing aggression. idiot.

My cat always wants pets and attention when I’m trying to work.

Then, when I’m in the mood to pet the cat, she always either bites me or runs away.
