Are people against the initial invasion of Afghanistan to root out Bin Laden now?

I can not justify or reconcile spending over one trillion dollars, 20,000 wounded and close to 2,000 US casualties on looking for one man who was not even there.

Did we remove the Taliban? No
Did we find OBM there? No

What we did manage to accomplish was killing shitloads of people who had nothing to do with anything and pour a metric asston of money into the MIC, rah rah go USA

Alone at Dawn is a good read. The Men, the Mission and Me is by Peter Blaber and details the entire mission and better explains in his opinion how the Seals screwed up.

Just got through reading Alone At Dawn. Really good book written by a 30 year AF vet and combat controller. The first 2/3rds of the book is more of a history of CCT than Chapman biography, but it works.

The author, Dan Schilling, takes it relatively easy on the SEALs, but practically calls their leadership incompetent. In particular the squadron commander, Lt Commander Vic. How that guy got to the position he was in is a mystery to me.

Just finished listening to this on audible. Overall good. Lot of pumping up of the combat controllers given they aren't as known as the other special forces.

It's a little crazy and sad that another service would attempt to obstruct or block the awarding of the medal of Honor to Chapman. When that failed that ended up upgrading Britt Slabinski - Navy seal team leader to the medal of Honor as well.
