Just keep on waiting, in my opinion, and don’t buy grey.

Why? Warranties transfer most of the time and Jomashop and Crown and Caliber offer their own warranty if the watch doesn't have one. Ebay offers authenticity guarantees.

I was eyeing an Explorer II (42mm) and they are still super high. Still think I'd feel bad about spending that much right now even though I can. I always think "That's one of my boys car when they are able to drive" or "That is a vacation or two". However, my wife feels really really bad I did not get a 10 year anniversary gift as she got a really expensive ring guard.

Well, you can buy grey if cheaper (but I’d prioritize relationship with an AD), but I mean overpay. $200k for a Nautilus, which was rotting in a case 5 years ago, isn’t going to last forever. People have a myopic view of the watch industry, given interest has spiked in the last 5 years, but the watch industry has always ebbed and flowed and likely will ebb yet again.

The watch market, in general, reminds me of crypto in more ways than one.

Almost everything with power gives perfect time. We're bathed in time now. I haven't worn a watch regularly in 15 years. Why would I pay for a car-priced piece of jewelry that also tells time?

IYAM the Nautilus is not even a good looking watch. And there are lots of watches with equal or better workmanship. I don't know where the hype comes from.

It's a socially acceptable form of male jewelry.

I love the planet ocean but the helium escape valve irks me, especially on the GMT model which isn't even supposed to be a dive watch. Hopefully it will be eliminated in the newer versions, which are rumored to incorporate technology from the Ultra Deep.

Why a date just over a far superior movement in the omega? Also I’m not sure you can get a date just for 3500.

Looked and tried on, too muted for me.

Well, I wouldn’t say the Omega movement is “far superior”. Maybe more technically advanced, but the new Rolex movements are accurate and precise and sturdy and reliable. And the 8800/8900 movements, in my view, are just too thick. Omega watches often feel more imbalanced than their Rolex counterparts.

I have a large wrist (7 3/4") and the larger watches don't bother me. I agree the coaxial movements are a little thicker but I like increased service interval and the METAS cert.

I have a Hamilton Khaki King right now and it feels tiny on my wrist. It's 40mm but lug to lug is 50mm.

Also, I would have assumed that he meant an older Datejust given the price equivalent.

Yeah, I like how they went back to the 36mm case.

I would get one (blue version) if I didn’t have the wrist of a child.

I do want to try on that new Black Bay Pro, curious about the thickness compared to the diameter.

explorer is a legit model. 3-6-9 is really well done on it. too small for me but it's a great looking watch
