I have several PhD neighbors, half voted for Trump. They other half I can actually hold a discussion with. They really are insulated from the real world and shocked when I give real world information that doesn't exactly jive with their views and sometimes blows it out of the water when they are honest.
FTR, all are in the sciences. Biology, Math, etc...

Also, I have never met a PhD who is not in the academic world who is less than mildly conservative if not very conservative. These are chemists and engineers with PhD's
