This actually happened to me. This is the text conversation I had with a girl...we shared about 20 texts in over ~2 weeks.

This was out of nowhere in the middle of a conversation about scary movies....

Her:
So I have a question related to your teaching that I have been curious about .Do they require you to teach material that supports evolution ?

Me:
I teach two classes that deal with evolution in parts. I teach Darwinian evolution for those parts.

Her:
So does it bother you to teach evolution at all? Or do you think it's a legitimate theory that should be taught ?

Me:
Again with the risque questions! I like it! It does not bother me to teach evolution because it is a legitimate theory.

Her:
That's interesting. I can't say it wouldn't bother me even if it was a good theory. Especially if I couldn't teach the account of Creation as well , so that the students could decide for themselves. That's what really bugs me about the public teaching system today. The other side isn't taught. It's all kept in dark like it's a big secret that can't see the light of day for some reason. I bet you have never heard of important things that support Creation science like the Golden ratio or The Fibonacci sequence ? So what do you believe personally ?

Me:
I know a lot about evolution. I know a lot about Creation. I know both sides of the arguments. I teach Darwinian evolution because it is right.

Her:
Really ? So I take it that means you don't put a whole lot by what the rest of the Bible teaches ?? If some of it is wrong the rest of it is wrong by definition. That would mean God is a liar and absolutely nothing the Bible says that He says can be trusted.

Me:
I don't think it is a good tactic to dismiss all the Bible because of what the first chapter of the first book says. I don't get hung up on that. I pay more attention to the parts that focus on living a meaningful life.

Her:
I have a challenge for you. There is a documentary that came out last year on the topic of evidence for Creation. I give you the challenge to watch it with an open mind. It doesn't hurt to obtain more evidence or at least knowledge of the other side of the debate , does it ? Here's the website to buy the DVD. It's only $12.99.
https://isgenesishistory.com/product/feature-film/

And if you have a good tidbit of informative media about evolutionism then feel free to send it my way and I will watch it with an open mind as well. Then we can have a discussion about it.

Me:
That is not productive. I may be typecasting here, but nothing I provide will cause you to rethink your position. Nothing you provide will be science-based or have good, scrutinized science behind it. There is no debate because one has no footing whatsoever. Debates are supposed to be equally sided, and no persuasion is needed.

I already know most if not all of the argument from the creationist side.

I do not see the point in focusing on the Creation. There are much more pertinent parts of the Bible.

The Bible is not a science book, it is a spiritual book.

Her:
I think that's a really supercilious attitude that you are displaying. To think that the side across from you as no ground for argument whatsoever. That's the attitude of a professor who thinks his students are beneath him ,that he will always know more than they could possibly know because of his post-nominal initials. I think that as soon as a person decides he can't learn and grow any more he is as good as dead. You probably didn't even look at the website ,did you? If you had you would have seen this , the list of all the scientists and professionals with post-nominal initials that worked on this top notch project that ,once again, is being kept in the dark because the public education system doesn't want the evidence of the other side to be out there for the public to know about :

Each of these experts has spent decades working in his respective field to better understand how it relates to the history recorded in the Bible.

Kevin Anderson, PhD – Microbiologist
Steve Austin, PhD – Geologist
Steven Boyd, PhD – Hebraist
Robert Carter, PhD – Marine Biologist
Arthur Chadwick, PhD – Taphonomist
Danny Faulkner, PhD – Astronomer
George Grant, PhD – Pastor
Paul Nelson, PhD – Philosopher of Science
Douglas Petrovich, PhD – Archeologist
Marcus Ross, PhD – Paleontologist
Andrew Snelling, PhD – Geologist
Kurt Wise, PhD – Paleontologist
Todd Wood, PhD – Biologist
Stuart Burgess, PhD – Mechanical Engineer (Bonus Features)
Douglas Kelly, PhD – Theologian (Bonus Features)
Larry Vardiman, PhD – Atmospheric Physicist (Bonus Features)

And it stopped there because I am not going to keep texting.

Pics of text for proof:

So, I guess I am posting this to say, watch out? Or I'm being next-level trolled. Or maybe I just got unlucky, or maybe the church sought me out...

Dear diary,

I spoke to a girl. It was awkward. I'm definitely gay.

This is not a troll...I am not sure how this thread will end up, but I'd rather not stoop too low as to out the person for these rather lame evangelizing tactics.

Upvote because you are Pectus, the topic was ambitious and because the word supercilious has never appeared on the OT before.

I had to look it up when I was sent that message. I knew then that this was a coup...or something like that.

Well, I've searched for some of the lines she used online and couldn't find any hits on scripts that I know those from the church use from time to time...

It's a sure sign of poor research when all you do is look for evidence to support what you already believe. That's true whether you're a creationist, a Muslim-hater, or anything else.

Look for evidence that contradicts what you believe. If you honestly look and can't find anything, only then maybe you're onto something. That's the basis of the "scientific method".

And we need pics.

It's really sad to me that some people believe that Christianity and evolution are mutually exclusive. It's a pathetically simple-minded view of both Christianity and the observable reality of natural selection. Just really sad, pathetic, and pitiful indictment of entire denominations of Christianity.

Yeah, it’s not weird at all to be a human fricking being and think you have all the answers to all the existential questions of Man. There is a terrible hubris and self- delusion at the center of everybody who thinks they have THE answers to these things. I mean even if they were available to us, they’d be beyond our comprehension. We get bits and pieces , we process them , and that’s about it.

I think I’ll just let the mystery be
