In Germany if it contains anything other than grains, hops, and water you can't legally consider it beer.

I guess that rules out domestic beers then.

Lagers are the way to go for a traditional beer taste.

Lagers weren't what we know them to be today until the 1800s. If he wants beer that really tastes like old school beer it would be sour and smell funky

Making something cold masks the flavor of beer to make it more palatable

Exactly. There’s a reason those domestic light lagers are always emphasizing the word COLD in their commercials. It’s because their tasteless swill becomes unpalatable at room temp.

Yeah, fruit-flavored beer is stupid and lame.

If you can't drink real beer, turn in your man card and go crazy with mai tais and strawberry margaritas and such.

shite beer may be nostalgic, but it’s still shite beer at the end of the day.

Things improve, and it’s about time that American beer stepped up it’s game. And I think that it’s an over generalization to equate craft beer to chocolates, avocados and citrus. There are tons of fantastic craft beers that are just damn good wheat beers, blowing the doors off the tired garbage domestics we had to consume back in the day.

I’m not in college anymore, and I have a palate that’s more refined than it was when I was 20, living my life around Beenie weenies and cheep beer to play quarters with. i don’t need copious amounts of cheep shite to consume, but I do need options, and thankfully, we have a bunch of them to choose from these days, and it’s only getting better.

So, while domestics play their “the masses choose domestics” card, they’re getting their asses handed to them in quality, and besides, the masses are asses rule still applies. The fact that I’m supporting local business and industry when I choose a local beer over a domestic out of state, only makes me feel that much better about my decision, and the end result is much more palatable.

All of this.

All.
Of.
This.

It's funny how people think gulping down some nasty flavored piss water supposedly makes you more masculine.

Especially when these margaritas and mai tais have more alcohol content than your manly beer.

Just lol

The main problem is, well, they don't taste like beer. I guess I'm a traditionalist. I don't want a beer that tastes like chocolate or oranges or avocados. I want a beer that taste like … I don't know, beer

and that would be? Guiness? Newcastle? Chimay? I bet the author doesn't like any of these either.

Adding fruit and spice flavors to beer isn't anything new.

There’s nothing wrong with an ice cold bud light from time to time. However, most of the time I’d prefer something different. But there’s no wrong answer - drink whatever beer you prefer.

It’s the idiots who think anyone who drinks craft beer is a hipster that are the problem. As well as the idiots who think anyone who drinks Budweiser is a hick.

It hasn’t been 95 degrees here more than twice this year, and the only time I wear a beanie is when it’s 10 degrees or below, which is just as rare.
