This.

Everyone loves to bitch about the traffic but the vast majority of people are stupid beyond words. They will bitch and bitch and bitch but will NEVER vote to have the solution go through their neighborhood. It's always fine unless it affects THEM.

People are stupid and selfish. And stupid.

And selfish.

I'm against more taxes but if higher taxes is what it takes for this to be built then count me in. I will freaking donate to the cause and actively campaign for it.

Shrevrport has a good bypass around Downtown and a bypass to Dallas.

Did they build all that with s regional tax or did the Feds/State do that?

On the other hand BR got stuck with a poorly located interstate, a spur instead of a bypass, interchanges that don't connect to major arteries, two major splits in the middle of the city and exit ramps on the "wrong" side.

How did all this happen?

He's angling for a political run within a few years. Book it.

The wall got Trump elected and "The Bridge" is going to get Bernhard elected.

Those are the same but there’s also another loop on the south west. Shreveport > BR

Baton Rouge people can't be mad that North La politicians are better than ours at getting projects funded.

Ascension and Livingston absolutely need to build a connecting highway. That would take some volume off I10 and 12 thru BR

The bridge is only one part of the solution

People are selfish. And stupid, but not in this case. A guy in a semirural area who already lives 10 minutes from work would be stupid not to oppose a new highway. You're asking people to sacrifice disproportionally for your benefit. Some always have to bite the bullet for anything to get done, but they dont have to like it, and expecting them not to oppose it is naive.

I've looked at the maps many times and a loop is going to be a huge undertaking if it ever were to happen. The Mississippi River messes it up and once you cross the river it would be many miles of highway before the loop could link back up to I-10 or I-12. What they could do is instead of having 190 turn into airline they could continue to extend it eastward and then come down around denham springs. Since there is already a bridge they wouldn't have to build one.

A new bridge would mostly benefit commuters and people travelling through. I live in BR and don't use the interstate during the week. It would have very little impact on my day to day life.

Nah, it's fine! The I-10 bridge in Lake Charles has been rated F by DOTD for years and it is still kicking.

And don’t forget...i49 to Texarkana now connects with 220 north Loop. Only piece left is the inner city connector & 49 will pass directly through SHV. Don’t know if it’ll happen anytime soon but it should...it’s route is only 3 miles through the finest in Qborough.

So do I, but don't think a problem on the bridge or the interstate doesn't impact the "ground" traffic becsuse it does.
Even the Sunshine Bridge debacle impacted EBR.
