I’ve been called five times and I finally got selected to be on a jury a couple of weeks ago. It was a fascinating experience and I’d happily do it again.

I just call them on the phone - tell them I'm self employed - and that nobody else can take care of my clients it's worked 100% of the time

Probably the same result could be had from wearing a MAGA hat.

Tell them that you want to be on the jury because you own a lot of stock in a company that provides paper goods to the state prison system, and that you need more prisoners to make your stock price rise.

The best way to get out of your duty to serve on a jury when called is to;

JUST DO IT LIKE A PATRIOT WOULD.

The first time that I got summoned, I got selected. Wasted 3 weeks as a juror only to be dismissed before the final verdict was to be discussed. Turns out I was back up.

It was a civil case. A young teenager was driving in the morning back from City X to City Y after a night of partying with hardly any sleep. They were 4 teenage boys in the SUV, driver dozed off, SUV went into highway's green median, he lost control and SUV rolled over 5 times, killing one kid who was not wearing a seatbelt and exited through the back passenger window.

They sued the auto manufacturer for the accident claiming faulty auto design. Total BS. I learned a couple of days later that they won the case and the mother of the deceased was awarded approx. $15 million. Half for her, the other half for attorney's fees. Incredible.

Oops I'm not supposed to tell the case to anyone. Too bad.

When they ask if there are any questions, stand up and say:

"When we find 'em guilty, can we hang 'em?"

A few weeks ago it was Shell vs ExxonMobil or some big oil company like that, I can't remember.
Judge said it was expected to last 2 to 3 weeks.
When questioned, I asked why do I have to miss 3 weeks of work without pay to decide how many millions a billion dollar company owes another.
They dismissed me after that

Can’t complain about the system if you refuse to participate

Do your duty and go be a voice of reason to other jurors

I got one for next week... The way it is set up sucks for work.. You have to prepare work for your absence.. make sure people will do your work.. Then you find out the day before they don't need you.. Then you get another jury notice about 6 months later. This scenario happened to me about ten years ago 3 times until I called the jury pool and complained. The lady looked at jury notices and admitted that I got called a lot. So this is the first notice I have gotten since then.

I am like a moth to the flame with jury notices.. Since 18 I must have gotten at least a dozen and never served.. I know people who have never gotten a jury notice..

Some dude did this last time I got called, but I don’t think he was trying to get out of it.
