So what ab the guy in front of you that is drunk and hits a car head on that kills your best friend/little sister? Is having to stop for 30 seconds to prevent that worth it?

Horrible tragedy that I'd probably never get over. But, in a free society that values the rule of law, sometimes bad shite happens.

However, I thought this was a creative way to circumvent the system is the reason why I shared it.

Again, it's not a way to get out of a DUI, it's just a way to present your information without opening your door/window. You can still do something while inside the car to give them probable cause.

I hate roadblocks. They are ineffective at catching drunks and are unsafe for the officers.

Horrible tragedy, but stomping on constitutional rights is not the way to fix it. Plus, I dont think the checkpoints prevent many dui accidents

this was not the case..did you even watch the video?

Yes, I did, and I thought it was a bit over the top. Also heard the guy videoing snickering & getting a kick out of the cops' expressions, which I think is more the goal of this type of thing than "protecting rights." Just my opinion. But by all means, if people want to hang a baggy with their shite in it out of the window on a string, whatever.

Well, they have to enforce said laws. I mean, come on...

So, again, why be a dick just to be a dick?

You just have to not look/act drunk if you get stopped.

It actually is that easy....

FTR, I've gotten stopped 4 times in 25 years when I should have gotten a DWI, cop never had a clue. The only one I ever got one was because I had a full crown drink sitting in my drink holder and my car reeked of bourbon from the other knuckleheads in my car. I was 20 years old at the time and it was swept under the rug.

Hey, if you can get away with it, then good for you. That said, I honestly hope that you don't hurt yourself or someone else if you do it again.

Look, I'm all for protecting our rights, but I think some carry themselves in regards to this in a very childish way when dealing with cops. Also, there are obviously some a-hole cops out there that make people feel the need to act this way.

If BOTH sides were more polite to each other when the laws of the land had to be enforced, then maybe we wouldn't have the issues we have today in this country with cops and a certain subset of our culture.

If these types of things weren't simply money grabs I'd think this guy was a douche. Actually he's still a douche but what the cops are doing is basically a bake sale for the local government with a gun to your head.

i didn't say I would try this technique or nor do I support it. I simply shared the link and video and said that I thought it was a creative way to get around/thru a roadblock.

I almost posted that video earlier as a "positive cop thread".

It was funny and the cops handled it very professionally. I like how patient the cop was with reading it, then he seemed happy to signal them to move on.

I don't think it would have ended well if it were around here, though. The LSP are professional but LPSO and BRPD probably would have escalated the situation.
