Also, you can disable that permanently most of the time
I heard that voids the warranty

It's an expensive way to game the mileage standards
Blame gov’t regulations. The car companies found a work-around to appease both the consumer and the gov’t.
Some cars are better than others when it comes to disabling or working around that stupid button.

Why do they think this is a money saver?
I never heard that it was supposed to save money … I always thought it was a way to inflate the gas mileage and minimize the emissions

I can turn mine off too, but will the auxiliary battery die if you don’t use it?
Yes, that happened on my car but it didnt matter other than the stop start doesnt work which was a win for me

Yep.
Worth it, plus it sounds better.

There is a YouTube video that shows for the GM, all you have to do is switch a wire on the circuit breaker. I haven’t tried it but it seems to make sense.

None of the 3/4 tons have it, AFAIK

I turned that off on my car. Seems dumb. The automatic brake is nice though.

That was not their reasoning, to save $$$. It is there to reduce idle emissions, per EPA mandates.

Some manufacturers allow dealers to reprogram the vehicle to disable this feature.......for a fee!

It's called arse for a reason

You can turn it off on my car but I’m an OT baller so I have that option

Yeah but the diesels have ten thousand other sensors and systems mandated by the government, so they're probably even worse

This was the hope and change Obama promised us.

No, it doesn’t void the warranty. I’ve turned it off with a laptop and an OBDII scanner on eight or nine ford trucks and cars. Nobody cares

It does not save you money.
It’s not there to save YOU money. It’s there to save the manufacturer money because they have this useless feature on your vehicle.

Government CAFE standards bruh. Thank every president since 1975.

My Ram 1500 had this auto-stop crap. Thankfully, Ram was kind enough to place the button to turn off this “feature” right next to the gear shift knob.
