I don't claim prizes from people who lack the intellect or humility to admit when they are wrong. It's beneath me.

Another one who is very full of themselves. And wrong about what? Are you ascribing a definitive objective “answer” on this matter?

Y’all didn’t offer Mo the option of surrendering to Japan
It’s very possible that he would have chosen this option

I am actually and have the courage to admit it. Of the three options that confronted Truman in 1945, the one that involved the least greatest loss of life was the option involving the atomic bomb. Truman, the Combined Chiefs of Staff, and other powerbrokers didn't take the decision lightly either. This is evidenced by the fact that we haven't used nuclear weapons ever since.

Trivial, but isn’t this the same as the least loss of life?

Is there an option to deploy a nuclear weapon on a purely military target or even a field outside of a city to eliminate civilian casualties while still displaying military might and still acting like a “warning shot” for what might come if the war was dragged on?

This is as stupid as people wanting cops to shoot perps in the leg when they pull a gun. It’s legit retarded.

but the US government estimated that an invasion of mainland Japan would cost 1 MILLION of just Allied Forces

I'd like to see the sourcing on this. Japan was done. They had no fleet. They could have been blockaded and starved out. Lots of other options.

I understand the bombing was effective. But I don't think we would have done it again in retrospect. There is a reason it has never been done again. It's horrific and no one should have that type of power..

Google is your friend. There have been numerous books, shows, and articles on the topic. One book is "Operation Downfall". The History Channel did a show on the coup attempt against the Emperor to derail the surrender. The substantial inventory of Japanese weapons in storage in anticipation of the invasion is well-documented, and I included some key elements in a post above. Japanese civilians on Tinian and Iwo committed suicide rather than be taken alive by US soldiers who were begging them not to kill their own children in many cases. Japanese children as young as 8 were being trained to fight with pitchforks and spears.

Either search it an learn or remain ignorant - it's your freedom to do so in part because we dropped those bombs.
