He probably had snipers on every roof just in case anyone approached him.

That's surprising. I would bet he had eyes on him.

Correct. They have several on my block that need to be picked up. Plus we still have the road blocks laying on the corner from Mardi Gras. City still hasn't picked these in the 13th Ward.

What a dysfunctional city.

Mine is gone.

But I am an actual property tax paying citizen.

It was traded out the same week. I read the letter that was sent to me so I knew when to put it out.

How far from Octavia books? That's my only point of reference on Octavia

That doesn't have anything to do with why yours was picked up and why many others are still sitting by the curb. It did benefit you to follow the directions, but you were just fortunate. It's New Orleans. This is how these things go. Try getting a pot hole by your home filled in a reasonable amount of time as a tax-paying citizen of New Orleans. My tax paying ability hasn't stopped me from receiving those marathon boil water alerts like the rest of NOLA has received just about every year.

Don't blame the mayor from protecting himself from the same people waving the Virginia Battle Flag in NOLA and burning Lambo's.

I don't.

I blame him for not protecting law abiding citizens from criminals that aren't in jail because of a horrendous court system and a badly understaffed / trained police force.

The boil orders are soon a thing of the past.

Unfortunately the NIMBY culture of Uptown created their own problem.

If everyone else can follow the trashcan rules, maybe you are the outlier.

Potholes suck. Can't defend it. Mitch didn't create them, but he certainly isn't doing anything to speed up correcting the problem.

Court system sucks, but lawyers know how to exploit the laws. Criminals back on the street is a broken system. Not sure Mitch can rewrite the constitution.

No, C. Ray is the "chocolate city" guy currently in the "chocolate penitentiary."

Mitch is the guy that wants to talk about "reconciliation" while hoping the no one remembers that as a LA state senator, he voted IN FAVOR of having the confederate flag on LA license plates.

Didn't Ray Ray make it back to the city this week? I heard he was coming to testify.

He fricked up with his Home Depot billshit, but honestly wasn't horrible considering the load of shite dropped in his lap and having to play Louisiana politics to solve it.

The Constitution is the reason that NOPD is understaffed and underpaid? Interesting.

It's funny how Mitch can't seem to magically find "private donations" for things like that.

It isn't like the NOPD got that way when Mitch walked in. Who wants to work in this city as a cop?

Saying this as someone who works with at least 3 former NOPD (and a former kennah-brah cop)

They got out because the pay wasn't worth it. They weren't poor doing it.

Of course you can bring up the consent decree and the only defense is NOPD is/was corrupt as frick.

Yeah...Katrina and LA politics forced C. Ray down a crooked path.

You're either a bad troll or you were repeatedly dropped on your head as an infant. I'm leaning to the latter...

I included that intel in several posts. Happened on 1999.

Not saying he was pure, but he at least took a shot at cleaning up corruption in his first term.

Whether it was the allure of easy income or necessity to maintain his lifestyle is up for debate.

Surprisingly, when Nagin first came in, he seemed to be trying to doing decent. He was actually called an Uncle Tom quite a bit. After Katrina, he lost his damned mind though and became every other pandering politician.

There aren't many. It's just that he went from being called an Uncle Tom to being known as The Chocolate City Mayor. There was a pretty big change that took place.
