The artwork that half shredded itself sort of failed

LINK
The story behind the shred.
The artist planned 100% shred. His video at the beginning of the story shows how the elite eat and drink before shelling out mucho dinero to buy "art". Then they see the Banksy item start to shred itself. But it stops half way. Then Banksy's own video of his testing the mechanism, and how it was supposed to work.
Now, this defines publicity for an artist who has never been seen (unless you can identify his/her ring in the video).

I’m guessing Banks was in the room, unbeknownst to others. Great prank!!!

I still want to know how it knew to start shredding after the bidding ended. He must have had a remote and been at the auction, or had a friend at the auction waiting to trigger the shredding.

I wonder how much more valuable the painting is now that it's been halfway shredded?

He’s probably some super rich dude that’s paid people to publicize his work so he can screw around with people and make money from it. Like Batman with a sense of humor

Probably does add more value to it now. If I were the buyer I'd remove the power source just incase it decided to start up again.

Well it went from being a valuable piece, to a valuable piece with a unique story. At this point, the whole thing frame included and shredding included is a piece of visual art and performance art.

Art is just a mirror of the society in which it was created.
