My sentiments exactly. And definitely dont speed on Hwy. 15 up there in Franklin and Richland Parishes. I know I know..."where?"

All fantastic places never to stop for gas or food, and if you litter, litter in those places. Tho I don't like littering.

I read the article maybe over a decade ago. Might have been Indiana/Illinois/Iowa. Something around there.
The town's budget plummeted like 80%. They were building new city hall, courts, rec centers, all kinds of stuff. Wonder what happened to it. I'll never be able to find that article.

Some states curtailed this by passing a law that capped the percentage of a municipality's revenue that could be from fines like this.
It was pretty awesome when some town that was building a bunch of new shite got totally screwed since it had a bunch of loans already taken out.
LA passed same, but it's quirky from what I recall. I believe the new law provided that if a small town like most of those on the graphic have speed zones < 50 mph then only a certain percentage of annual revenue can come from tickets. So most of em bumped it up to 50 of course. Seems assinine but perhaps there was a touch more to it but dont think so.

If a citizen who was robbed by one of these shitholes were to crack and resort to terrorism to seek revenge, I wouldn’t convict him if I was on the jury.

This town's MO was something like this. It was on the interstate which had a limit at something like 70mph.
The town set the offramp speed to 30mph and just squatted.

Cruising down I49 in a line of cars. game. Everybody going the same speed. Here comes
Washington PD and unerringly singles out the one car with out of state plates. Colorado baw's Louisiana vacation just got more expensive.

I’m sorry I just don’t see how people are stupid enough to get caught in Georgetown. You can see the cats there plain as day as you drive up and if you pass through once you know where to expect them

I think Louisiana used to have a law like this...then it inexplicably disappeared.
