The absolute state of panic over COVID-19

I want to start out apologizing to some of the OT. I have vastly underestimated the level of panic in the general population around me. I have doubted some of you who talk about fearmongering causing issues. I forget that not everyone is as level-headed as I am, taking it all with a grain of salt and trying to parse through bullshite. I have been holed up in my house, working and taking care of my kid, and only making brief trips to pick up food or necessities but otherwise haven't been out and about much in the last week. Tonight that changed and it was eye-opening.

Went to my local Rouses to grab some groceries.. eggs, meat, yogurt, frozen veggies. Thought I'd be in and out and go home with what I need.

Wrong. Rouses was probably 1/2 empty on non-essentials and out of essentials. There was meat left but it was not what I was looking for. No eggs, no plain yogurt, no paper goods at all,

I left to go to the Albertsons nearby. Lucky for me they were pretty well stocked except no paper goods and no eggs. So I grabbed what I could and headed to check out.. while in line, a blur of kids, probably 7-8 of them around that age, ran by. Each holding something in their hands. Only thing I noticed was diapers. They all dashed out of the door with their stolen goods and piled into a white Buick with no license plate.

shite, man. This needs to end soon. I hope the time that these closures and social distancing buys enables us to stock up hospitals and get better prepared.. I don't think what we're doing will stop it entirely and we'll have a new wave when we return to normalcy.
