Did anyone here attend the 50th anniversary of D-Day reenactment at Pontchartrain Beach back in the day? I remember it well.

I did not, but, I wonder why that re-enactment event has never been repeated? You'd think that the WW2 museum or some other interest group might like to organize such an event.

Should be required reading in high school. Blows my mind what a fraction of WWII stories haven’t and won’t be told.

I'm currently listening to Supreme Commander by Ambrose... The stuff toward the end of the war is very interesting

Agree. The stories of the Race to Berlin(for example) are fascinating.

Watching the replay on cspan. Some of those guys nearing 100 could pass for 20 or 30 years younger.

I went to the WW2 museum and listened to the big band music. There was one WW2 veterans in the entire group of people. The band played for an hour. This old guy danced with the women their for all but two songs. He was amazing.

The last hour of The Longest Day draws near.

And soon, The Longest Day will pass into History.

Allied Soldiers of the Normandy Invasion, thank you for your service.
