Maybe because 3/4th of the positions are "Entry Level" with five years of experience in Javascript framework du jour that has only been around for a year, paying 50k because the job is in middle/southeast US where housing doesn't cost half a billion.

The starting pay for any SA or NE out of college at min in Louisiana is going to be 48-58. After 5 years they will be making 70k+ if you are making anywhere near 40k with experience as a NE in Louisiana you are getting fricked.

I've worked in IT in BR for 20 years and he's way off. Typically those aren't entry level jobs to begin with. I'd get laughed out of an interview if we offered a CCNA with 3-5+ years of experience 50k

I started out of college 18 years ago at 48k in Mississippi. Anyone that claims Louisiana isn't paying over 50k for network engineers is full of shite or they are working for a mom and pop shop in Leeville La.

Maybe fresh out of college. Dude a network or systems administrator makes a lot more than 50k in BR unless you are working in a mom and pop shop.

I've worked in the field for 20 years. Network Engineer and Administrator are often used interchangeably as are Systems engineer/systems administrator

LSU is hiring right now baw

The shortage of qualified drivers is pretty frightening considering the only solution they have is to drop the requirements for attaining a CDL

They are all in Midland making 100k a year

Considering that most fleets want someone with a clean driving record, no DUIs, no criminal record, and able to pass a hair follicle drug test, that narrows down the pool of eligible candidates.

I was adding more info not changing. I have worked 5 years in Mississippi and 12.5 years in Baton Rouge in the IT industry I know the salaries of most of the area through my connections to other IT departments and own need to hire and stay competitive with lousiana salaries. You are completely out of touch with the salaries of IT in Louisiana.

Virtually all graduates will make over 50k fo start.

Most of those jobs will pay 85-115k once at the Sr level depending on company size.

Pretty much none of them will pay less than 50k after 2 years experience. I had a position open a year ago paying 53k for an entry level developer.

Yep. I have hiring input on these positions and this is about right.

It's a career on a deathbed. Trucks will be automated in the very near future.

Huh.. this is 60-70k to start and easily 100-150k in some cities.
I started at 72k. Not in healthcare.

Kudos to you, but to say that people don't make under 50k in some of these just for the sake of how much some people make/are told they make is absurd..For every 72k, there is a guy who makes 47

Which still puts the average at 60.

Look, you were wrong. Let it go.

Also, I didn’t say IT people don’t make less than 50. Network/system admins in LA certainly don’t start out below 50 though.
