That is how Thankgiving dinner goes from $4 a head on paper to $30 a head in reality because we are not happy with a meat, 3 sides, bread and desert...we have to have a choice of several means, dozens of sides, dozens of desert and drink beer and wine all day.

No you didn't. If you think that shite is decent I'm glad we aren't related.

Turkeys are 49 cents a pound at Kroger - add stuffing, mac n cheese, some greens, rolls, pie
Definitely less than $5 per person at my house. Not sure why everyone is claiming this is a lie - the election is done. There’s no need for anyone to lie

This motherfricker wanting to suggest hot dogs for Thanksgiving. What a complete and total loser.
It wasn't me suggesting it, someone else suggesting feeding 10 people hot dogs and chips would be $100. Wasn't me, someone else. ALl id did was poinit out it would be about $30 or so.

This is eating garbage though. It’s literally trash.
Cheap hot dogs, off brand chips and sugary drinks.
The drinks could be diet for the same price. The OP I was responding to suggested it would cost $100 to feed 10 people hot dogs and chips....the bar wasn't heart friendly hot dogs and chips, it was hot dogs and chips. I suspect one could spend $100 a plate for the same menu if one wanted.....but the fact is one can also spend about $2 a person to feed them hotdogs and chips as suggested by the OP

There are losers in this thread that want to serve two tablespoons of off brand Kraft macaroni and cheese from a box per guest and call it a "feast".
The things this guy is listing are literal homeless shelter tier meals.

You might as well eat it from a can since you’re eating stuffing from a box and green beans from a can

I get it...you choose to spend a lot on thanksgiving to make your family happy...why not, its what money is for, there ain't no luggage racks on no hearses....but recognize it is a choice, you aren't being forced to do it, in fact, as illustrated, you could feed 10 people a thanksgiving dinner consisting of traditional thanksgiving food for less than $5 a head. Again, no one would dream of doing it because we have to do more....but that is a choice, not something being forced on us by anyone other than ourselves. There ain't no politician or political party forcing us to buy 8 bottles of whine and 8 cakes and pies for thanksgiving,....we CHOOSE to do this and thankfully have the money to do it....

15 LB Turkey at $.88 a pound $13.20
14 servings green beans, $.50 per 3.5 servings, $2
12 Servings Mashed Potatoes $3.57
12 servings Turkey Stuffing $1.94
10 servings turkey gravy $2.84
12 rolls $1.38
11 servings tea $2.98
10 servings pumpkin pie $9.14
This would be the last thanksgiving anyone had at your house.
I just find it hard to believe that canned green beans, fake potatoes, & a jar of gravy was more expensive in the mid-80's.

Preach brother. What is the end game of big food lowering prices after the election???? They are insane with the political BS that they can't admit, after having the prices from Walmart posted, that it is indeed possible to feed 10 people a turkey dinner for less than $5 a person. That they aren't willing to do it is not the issue for them....its that it can't be done. It certainly can...and lots of Americans will be doing it this week and having a big time doing it.

So the OP was about dinner, not a feast. A feast might cost around $7 a head.
I know now why folks are always complaining about food prices...many actually have no idea what shite costs at actual grocery stores...it "feels" like more. The numbers are readily available.
As far as homeless shelter tier meals what is wrong with roasted turkey, green beans, turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie and sweet tea? If that ain't a fitting, basic thanksgiving dinner what is? Whatever it is I will bet it can be done for far less than most will do it for...

The same meal, eaten at a restaurant, would also come out of a can and out of boxes and would cost way more.
It would cost less to cook this meal with fresh ingredients than packaged ones...the issue would be that everyone would be saying "yeah but what about the other 15 ounces of butter....". It would probably cost more BUT there would be more shite left over which could be used for other meals like butter and seasonings. Its aways cheaper to cook with fresh ingredients than packaged shite but for simplicity in prices its easier to compar prepackaged shite.

Hell if I thought it would keep the bastards away it is exactly what I would serve lol.
No one is suggesting the menu listed is what constitutes a thanksgiving dinner at anyone individuals home...it is pretty typical of what such a dinner would consist of.

So roasted turkey, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, bread, pumpkin pie and tea is not a decent thanksgiving dinner?
This is why so many people bitch about food prices - they have to have an etravagant meal instead of a traditionally accepted menu.

This is all a stupid discussion. It is still more than 4 years ago, no matter how you shop.

Dude... it's a box of chemicals, not stuffing/dressing. I mean, this is great for obese people in a trailer park but this is not a Thanksgiving feast item.
The cost of real dressing:
Corn Meal $2.32
Celery $2.72
Yellow Onion $0.62
Garlic Clove $0.72
Eggs $3.97
Broth x2 $3.96
Stock $2.98
Spices (Let's just say) $5.00
Cost: $22.29 (before taxes) - Now, you have to do the rest with about $30 left in your budget.
