no, it's called common courtesy, decency, or politeness, something you rude, crass, in need of Jesus motherfrickers are seriously lacking

I say this all the time when acquaintances ask about my kids. They aren't even required to remember I have kids, much less specific situations regarding them. I find it very kind when people go out of their way to see how I and my family are doing. Never thought I was being weird.

Nah it’s more like this:

Popeyes clerk: “gohead"
Me: "I'd like the #4 combo, spicy, with medium-sized fries and a Diet Coke please"
Popeyes clerk: “what number?”
Me: “number 4”
Popeyes clerk: “spicy or mild?”
Me: “spicy”
Popeyes clerk: “medium or large?”
Me: “medium”
Popeyes clerk: “what’s your side?”
Me: “fries”
Popeyes clerk: “to drink?”
Me; “Diet Coke”
Popeyes clerk: “pull around to the parking spot”

Nailed it.

I had a guy at work ask about my son yesterday, who had a pretty major surgery last year. I thanked him twice for asking during the conversation. I thought it was very thoughtful of him to remember, and ask about him. He was sincere in his concern as well.

Exactly. If you’re offended by someone expressing gratitude for being thought about with concern, or if it even bothers you, I feel sorry for you.

Most people don't give a shite about and feel superior to the clerks. Having someone actually ask the question back is nice throughout a shitty day.
Very true. I try to always ask how they are doing. Most seem happy to be asked that.

Whole conversation seems fabricated and fake. I hate when people feel the need to talk for the sake of talking.

I started being fake nice to people once I realized how much it pisses people off.

Because it is incorrect, and subconsciously, you caught it. Well is an adverb. Either "I am doing well" or "I am good."

Maybe she had been sick and just got better, so she was saying she is now well.
