Thanks for the curation of the offerings Obtuse...Lots of great stuff, and some that doesn't work for me (it takes all kinds, so to speak). That Chopard LUC Quattro dial is excellent.

Here's what I have on today: Timex Q GMT Black/Green...The Rick (if you are into The White Lotus) or perhaps The Sprite Zero Sugar, lol. I picked it up for one of my boys, but told him I was gonna wear it a bit til he comes home from school next time.

Happy birthday eve to the TGIFWT.

I started this thread hoping to see some cool and interesting watches and kill time on a Friday. Never expected it to hum along for a year plus like a perpetual calendar, and morph into the de facto OT watch thread. It’s been awesome seeing the variety of timepiece among the OT community (and plenty more that we can only lust for), and indulging in plenty of horological talk and watch nerdery over the past year.

May the TGIFWT continue to run as long as an IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar.

Wearing the G9000 Mudman today. Probably my favorite G-Shock.

Aquaracer 500m. Saved up slinging drinks in Tigerland to get this as my first “real” watch. It doesn’t make its way into the rotation much anymore but I’ve been digging the ceramic bezel lately.

W&W was a hit for VC, they brought some incredible pieces, Patek as close behind.

JLC built some great watches but the prices have become somewhat ambitious.

I really like the Chopard Alpine Eagle with the 8hz movement it gave me a little of the VC Overseas Everest vibe which is a watch I covet.

Tudor nor Rolex gave me anything I wanted but a couple did pique my interest. The Land-Dweller is interesting. If they seed the catalog with dials like they do with the DJ and DD I probably will get sucked in at some point I am just not a huge fan of motif dials.

W&W feels a little bit off its center without Swatch Group joining in. AP and Breitling feel odd as well. COVID killed Basel but it was eaten up with comorbidities before that. It just gave the companies a easy opportunity to euthanize it, I imagine the Basel World organizers saw it as murder though.

So Basel was exciting intellectually with all the haut pieces and also exciting for my wallet because despite a lot of interesting watches nothing snuck in and style my credit card. That leaves the lone two watches on my high interest list, the Tudor Famingo Blue Chrono and the Omega no date SMP with the steel dial and aluminum bezel. Shhhh don't tell my wallet that I do love the Patek 6196 which I think, channeling Nico Leonard, is pure class.

Obtuse, what’s your take on potential for reduced dimensions on the BB Pro?

I thought maybe that was coming, but now I'd be surprised as this was the oportunity for that as Tudor have demonstrated they can put a GMT in a more svelte case as with the BB58 GMT ("Coke"). The BB Pro is almost a full 2 mm (14.6 mm to 12.8 mm) thicker, which to me is disappointing. So they now have a black dial version and a version that plays white with the Opaline, so that makes me think a thinner one is not coming.

I know you wanted Obtuse, but had to add my .02.

No point in asking me I thought for sure we would be a BB58 GMT Pepsi with the opaline dial this year and thought Rolex would give us the Coke GMT Master II even if it was in PM.

Tudor has shown they will play around with size so I would guess a smaller Pro is coming. Maybe when they shift it over to METAS they will also address the thickness like they did with the BB 58 burgandy though it only shrank a fraction of a mm.

I have learned there is little use in waiting for things from any watch brand, it often becomes a "watched pot".

Thanks for the input fellas! Knowing my luck I’d snag the Opaline and they’d roll out a thinner Pro in ‘26. It’s certainly still very intriguing.

Just once I want him to say that Delray Watch got X watch in and it isn't the cheapest one for sale.

Marc (Long Island Watch) has made a couple of interesting videos on tariffs and how it will impact his business. Kinda interesting because he uses actual numbers from actual watch orders.

I just finished a flurry of movement, lubricant, parts, and tool orders that hopefully will tide me over until this all gets worked out but I am sure I missed something. I have some custom straps I plan to order from Vietnam ("my guy" does great work with weird creatures like toad and beaver tail) but as long as the de minimus stands for Vietnam, I will be basically be unscathed.

Hopefully this doesn't put the kibosh on my Olongapo bracelet order.
